Do you own a Xiaomi scooter? Then you're probably aware of the serious security issue with the Mi Electric Scooter that was discovered a few weeks ago. Now, Xiaomi has finally released an update that fixes it. We'll give you all the information you need to update your electric scooter right now.
How to update the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter
The bombshell dropped a little over a month ago: the security group Zimperium published a report demonstrating that Xiaomi's Mi Electric Scooter had a serious security flaw that allowed another person, with sufficient knowledge, to remotely control the electric device.
The problem, they pointed out, lay in how the scooter's system was configured. It only required user registration through the official phone app, without requiring a similar step when connecting directly to the device. This vulnerability could be easily exploited by hackers, who had access and freedom to execute remote commands (such as accelerating) on the scooter without the owner being able to prevent it.

Needless to say, revealing such news caused quite a stir, especially after it was also discovered that this vulnerability was known to the community, as it was also used as a way to install homemade firmwares that allowed the power of the scooter to be increased.
Xiaomi released a statement acknowledging the issue following the report and committing to fix it as soon as possible with an OTA update . Well, that fix has now arrived.
