La Deebot Ozmo 950 from Ecovacs is already among us. This new robot vacuum cleaner has just been announced today, although in my case, I've been testing it thoroughly for a couple of weeks so I can tell you how it works and if it's worth buying. Sit back, click and get ready to have your house cleaned without lifting a finger.
Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950: review of the robot vacuum cleaner
Without realizing it, robotic vacuum cleaners have invaded stores and, to a large extent, our homes. It is no longer so rare to find a device of this type at home, because the good prices and a good evolution of its capabilities have helped more and more people to give it a try.
Among the most important companies in this segment is Ecovacs, an Asian firm that has been developing very interesting models for quite some time and that bases part of its success on a very efficient and accurate navigation and mapping system. It is one of the qualities that I like the most about the brand's vacuum cleaners and in this Deebot Ozmo 950 it has not disappointed at all.

Its Smart Navi 3.0 technology, which is what it is called, is responsible for making an exact map (and when I say exact, it is very exact) of your house and can even store several when it comes to cleaning a house with several floors. In my case, this Ecovacs took care of map in a very precise way all the rooms and corners of my house, without exception. It took less than an hour for it, after which I already had drawn a map of my house (seen from above), accessible from the enforcement mobile phone that the brand has developed for its smart vacuum cleaners.

From there, there are several Possibilities of control you have. With the map at hand, you can tell the vacuum cleaner which specific rooms you want it to clean (for example, only those corresponding to the living room and the guest bedroom; it is called Area Cleaning), if you want it to go through the entire house without vacuuming in a specific area, with the use of Virtual Limits (you just have to draw a line with your finger as a barrier and that's it), or if you prefer that it only clean a very specific area (it's Custom Cleaning).

Since the application has come up, I will tell you a little more about it. It is downloaded from your usual app store (Google Play or App Store) and in a matter of little time (not much science) you have it configured with an account that you must create with an email and a password and the selection of the vacuum cleaner model that you have (in this case the Ozmo 950). It is completely in Spanish and you can share its management with other people who will have access to the vacuum cleaner as secondary accounts, so that they can also control its management and operation -ideal when several people live in the home.

With regards to managing your options, you will become familiar very quickly with almost all of them. In a main panel you have the personalized and automatic cleaning options (just touch and it will start vacuuming) that I have described before, as well as a look at the plan of your house. You can see the status of the battery, as well as access other settings such as the suction level you want (Quiet, Standard, Max and Max +), the mopping (yes, this vacuum cleaner also mops!), the schedule cleaning or whether or not you want to have voice messages - I personally find them useful to know when you have finished or if you have run into any "problems".

But let's go to what really matters, How does this Deebot Ozmo 950 clean? Incredibly good. I have Standard mode configured at the time of Aspire And the truth is that with it a review of the house is carried out quite well -Ecovacs claims to have increased the suction power in this new generation (compared to the previous ones) and I believe it. It is true that if you want something more thorough, you will have to increase the suction level (and therefore, the noise that is more evident from Max.), but for a daily automatic cleaning of the house, the Standard is the perfect way, since in addition the noise level is very low.
When it's time to go to scrub modeIt is also efficient, although you must take into account what the possibilities of this robot are when it comes to scrubbing. You will not be able to use soap, only water, so that more than a thorough cleaning, what it does is a review or maintenance of the floor, ideal for removing that typical dust that often remains stuck to the surface from day to day -well, according to Ecovacs, "99% of soil bacteria" are specifically eliminated. It will not remove obvious stains nor, for example, do I see it being suitable for use in the kitchen - where cleaning with products and more thoroughly is required.

Machine moves quite freely and quickly, being able to clean approximately a little more than one square meter per minute. In terms of volume, it has the usual width of a robot of this type and its base is discreet and not very bulky. Of course, it is quite short - it is a pity that its upper pivot takes away some of its reach - in the end its maximum high point is the one that commands, 9,3 cm - to get well under some furniture, and it has a front area It's pretty shock-absorbing, so when it hits an obstacle, it's not very aggressive.

La battery It is another of the strengths of this robot vacuum cleaner. In all the time I've used it, it's never needed to return to its base to recharge and continue its task - something I can't say about other smart vacuums I've tested. Ecovacs claims to have improved autonomy, with a module that lasts more than twice that of other robots - we are talking about almost 200 minutes in the softest suction mode and up to 150 minutes at maximum power.
As for cleaning timesIt will depend a lot on the obstacles you find (circling 6 dining room chairs is not the same as cleaning an area completely free of objects. Even so, consulting my cleaning history in the app -yes, it creates one with the days, time and cleaned surface-, I can tell you that the vacuum cleaner has managed to make an area of about 64 m² in 77 minutes, with tables, chairs and different types of obstacles in its path.
What could improve on this Ozmo 950?
As you may have read, my assessment of this new robot vacuum cleaner is very positive, although that does not mean that I would improve certain small details to make it even better. The first of these has to do with the alternating between vacuuming and scrubbing. Ideally, you could configure the robot so that it first goes through the house in vacuum mode and immediately afterwards, it does the same continuous scrubbing route. However this is not possible. To "activate" the mopping mode you have to attach an accessory to the robot (a mop that clips to the water compartment), so that it will only mop when it is on and vacuum when you take it off, forcing you to perform this action every time you want to change the cleaning mode.
It would be great if the device had a compartment with the mop already attached that simply descended to touch the floor when the mopping mode was activated and was collected when you wanted to use it as a vacuum cleaner. Thus, a complete automatic cleaning could be carried out in which you did not have to intervene at all.

I haven't mentioned it before, but the Ozmo 950 has voice assistant support like Alexa or Google Home. This is obviously an advantage, however, I have found a small drawback in its use that does not convince me and that is that its name cannot be changed. When saying "Alexa, start cleaning" you always have to refer to the robot vacuum cleaner as "Deebot" and not as "vacuum cleaner", "robot" or whatever name suits you best. In addition, you will always have to "start" the conversation first, receiving an automatic welcome from the assistant and then continuing to pronounce the command you want to execute. Yes, it is a lesser evil, of course, but it does not stop clouding the natural speaking experience that is intended to be had with the assistants and the control they have of the home computers. It is certainly a point to improve.

I have said before that it will take you a short time to familiarize yourself with almost all the mobile app options. Almost. The main control panel doesn't seem intuitive at first and until you handle it a few times, you don't quite get the hang of it. I think the problem is in how the different functions have been ordered, with three main sections "Area", "Auto" and "Custom" and then, apart, the icon of a wall, which indicates that it is the area to choose the Limits virtual (also applicable when scrubbing).

This makes it a bit "complicated" at first since you don't know exactly where to touch when you want to make use of these features - it would be more logical that within "Custom" there would be the zone of free choice, that of areas and virtual limits. Again, a small and salvageable inconvenience, but one that I should mention here when I tell you about my experience with the robot.
Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950: price and availability
The new Ecovacs robot vacuum cleaner is available from today for purchase -at distributors such as Amazon, whose link I leave below. His price is 599 euros, a significant cost but one that I think is justified given the efficiency and possibilities offered by this robot, which has been improving over time until reaching its best moment with this new generation Ozmo 950.
Undoubtedly, an interesting option to take into account if you are thinking of buying one and forget about sweeping your house for a long time.
