Xiaomi it was not enough to launch the My 9 at a scandal price during MWC 2019 and was planted today in Madrid (good quality of the redmi brand) to also announce the commissioning of official sale of Redmi Note 7 in Spain, a very wealthy smartphone and with a laughing price that we have been testing for several days now. I tell you my experience. Forward.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, analysis
Xiaomi and its Redmi brand ("independent" of the Chinese house as its own division) have a very clear strategy: to sell like donuts thanks to a tremendously adjusted price. And it is that if on Wed 9 It is already a smartphone that tightens its costs quite seriously - its analysis is about to drop, stay tuned - I don't even know how to classify its new Redmi Note 7, a team with everything necessary to satisfy a large part of the users and with a launch price that does not exceed 150 euros.
Obviously going below 200 euros entails some sacrifices by the brand. The phone is not exactly a display of the latest design, so you are going to find a smartphone a tad hass thicker than expected, which nevertheless sports a nice gradient finish with an iridescent background that makes you forget for a long time that it is not a Mi Mix 3 Or an Mi 9.
Precisely on the back is located his fingerprint reader, quite fast and effective and located at the same height that you will find it in the Pocophone F1 or the aforementioned Mi 9. Here obviously there is no fingerprint sensor integrated into the screen and the truth is, it doesn't even need it. The corners of this Redmi, by the way, are reinforced, it has sealing of buttons and ports for inopportune spills and it does not forget to include 3,5mm headphone port.
One good thing about the thickness of the phone is that it is tremendously comfortable in the grip. We have slimmed down some smartphones so much that sometimes our fingers even "sneak" into the sides of the screen, something that does not happen even remotely here. And speaking of its panel, the phone has a 6,4 inch whose frames will call your attention a lot.
And once again we have here another of the concessions that we must make with the team, a phone that does not have an edge-to-edge screen and that despite having a drop-shaped notch, even this one has a rather thick frame. Same observation in the lower area, where the frame is rather high -and uneven compared to the upper part... ay the OCD.
For the rest, we are before a current IPS screen, to which I would ask for a better color saturation -despite the fact that they assure that it is improved, it is not its strongest point- and a little more brightness, without this second aspect being something that you are going to accuse unless you compare it with other top phones. This is what we have done with the Mi 9, with an AMOLED panel, noticing an important difference in favor of Xiaomi's top of the range.
Inside this phone runs a mid-range processor with a very good track record, the Snapdragon 660, capable of moving with the expected ease (in a phone like this) the entire environment of the Redmi Note 7 and relying on 4 GB of RAM, more than enough for the use that you will give this phone. This terminal comes by the way with Android 9 Pie, adorned with MIUI 10, a layer that is not particularly annoying -I still prefer the pure experience of the Xiaomi Mi A2, yes- and that has quite useful functions for the user.
Remarkable is also its battery. The phone inserts a 4.000 mAh module (with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 fast charge) that does quite well, offering us a phone that lasts perfectly all day and we can even continue to use part of the next day in certain circumstances. It has undoubtedly been a pleasant surprise (another one) in the test of this terminal.
We cannot stop talking about the photographic system of this smartphone. The Redmi Note 7 has two 48 and 5 megapixel sensors that give us quite interesting results for the price we are paying (the front is 13 megapixels).
It is true that when zooming in fully they can lose detail in situations where the light is not 100% (you can see it in the photo of the plate, for example) but in general I like what I see. The camera, by the way, shoots by default without Artificial Intelligence support activated (you must click on the AI ​​icon) and at 12 megapixels; if you want to capture at 48 MP -first photo of the three you have below-, you have to select it in the menu, where there is the option "48MP" (which is not compatible with AI).
I was also surprised by night performance, with better photos than I expected for a phone beforehand more discreet. Colors and contrast are good, and there's decent definition considering the low-light setting.
The Redmi Note 7 is such a complete phone for the price that it has to It's hard for me to think of someone I wouldn't recommend to buy.. Obviously I am talking about an average user, who wants a phone that moves comfortably, with good performance, a pleasant and efficient environment, a beautiful design and that has current features such as a dual-lens camera with optimal results or a fingerprint reader. that flies
Obviously I would not recommend this terminal to a heavy user, someone who intensively consumes multimedia content, who usually plays demanding titles or who attaches special importance to photographic quality. But for everything else Redmi (Xiaomi) just signed one of the best mid-range phones of the year. Without a doubt.
Redmi Note 7: price and availability
The phone is available for reservation from today (at 13:00 p.m. Spain) in the official Xiaomi store and on Aliexpress at a price of 149 Euros. It is a promotional offer for its launch for the 3 GB version and 32 GB of storage. Once the discount period for its premiere is over -which lasts from March 14 to 31 of said month and is limited to 5.000 units-, it will cost 179 Euros. It will be sent from March 14.
The version that I have tested in this review, 4 GB and 64 GB, is priced at 199 EurosAgain, more than attractive for the benefits it offers. It will be available on March 21.
