The first thing you should keep in mind is that Big+Quiet Formaldehyde is not a device for all types of homes. And the word "Big" in its name is not the result of chance or any attempt at exaggeration. The team is great, very big, and someone with a fairly large living room tells you that.
Its measurements are imposing, so it is something that you should keep in mind before purchasing it - or even, if you can, go to a store to see it in person. If we take the tape metrics, the Big+Quiet measures 83 cm high and 41,5 cm wide and if we pay attention to the scale, we find a device weighing almost 12 kilos (11,9 kg to be exact). The latter is not really a problem, since the device has a base with wheels that allows you to move it with absolute comfort from one corner to another, but fitting it into a specific place in the house can be more complicated, since which is noticeably larger than the Purifier Humidify+Cool, for example.
In terms of design and finishes, yes, you cannot fault it. It may seem more or less pretty to you - the book of tastes is not written - but personally I think that the combination of colors (blue and gold) and its drawing are very attractive and even original. Its finish is also of great quality. quality, something that you feel just by touching it, ultimately emanating that feeling that you are looking at a high-end product.
Obviously its shape is not capricious. As the manufacturer explains to us, the design uses the conical aerodynamics to offer a powerful projection at a great distance (it is designed for large rooms), thus ensuring that the air circulates with a flow that can always be adjusted both in power and angle, as desired.
Formaldeh… what?
We already know other Dyson purifying proposals, so what does this new equipment bring to the family? The answer lies in formaldehyde. The team has a specific catalytic filter that continually traps and breaks down molecules of formaldehyde in water and CO₂ (and that, furthermore, never needs replacement). This chemical compound is usually present in wood, paints or varnishes, air fresheners, in household cleaners that we usually use at home and even in mattresses.

For this work, the device has a HEPA H13 quality filter which captures 99,95% of particles down to 0,1 microns, while also using a active carbon layer that eliminates bad odors and gases.
You can always consult all this data in two ways. One is the small circular LCD screen that the device itself has in the center of its semi-dome - although here you can only see the current information and it is impractical unless you go directly to the machine to look at it. The other, much more comfortable, is the Dyson app for smartphone (can be used on both iPhone and Android), where you will see the same information as well as a history of what the previous days have been like. This application also allows you to configure some aspects of the Big+Quiet Formaldehyde, in addition to serving as a control unit - the equipment also comes with a small and cute remote control that matches the colors of the gadget.
And does noise? At maximum working speed it does not exceed 56 dB, which in practice means that you will be hearing a kind of "fan" that is not necessarily annoying. You should, however, keep in mind that it will not always be working at maximum power - and at lower levels it is quite soft and almost imperceptible - nor will you have it attached to you, so it should not be something that worries you.
Dyson Big+Quiet Formaldehyde: the best and the worst
