Google Assistant can help you find your lost iPhone, even when it is in silent mode. A new functionality that can be interesting for all those users who have a smart speaker from the company or any other compatible with Google's voice assistant.
Hey Google, find my iPhone
Google Assistant not only allows options already known to all, such as control the Xbox using voice commands, now it is also capable of helping you find your lost iPhone in the same way that it has been offering the same for Android devices for a long time. But before explaining how it works, let's talk about why it could be interesting. Especially when you already have a native option for that purpose, Search my Iphone.
As you know, Search my Iphone Or, rather, Find My is Apple's service that allows you to locate all the company's devices that have been associated with the same Apple ID. Thus, when you start a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, etc., it is registered to your account and you can know at all times where the product is located or where the last time its position was registered.
Of course, this tool is not only useful for that, one of the great values is that it allows you to send the order to block the device in case of total loss or theft. In addition to another order so that its content is deleted as soon as it connects to a network.
Therefore, with so many options and a much more complete starting point than what Google is going to offer you through Google Assistant, why is it interesting?
Well, having more options is always attractive and being able to tell a voice assistant to help you detect your iPhone too. And it is that there are many users who, despite having an iPhone, an iPad or other Apple devices, opt for Google Home and other Assistant-compatible speakers as a voice control solution for home automation. Not counting those who live with both the iOS and Android ecosystems.
This is why it is interesting that Google adds this new option. Because although Find My will be much more powerful, to be able to locate your lost device at home it will be practical.
How Google Assistant's search for iPhone option works
This new function or tool introduced in Google Assistant and that allows you to locate or, at least, help to find your lost iPhone more easily works in a very simple way. All you have to do is install the Google Home app on your device.
Thanks to this and the permission that Google must have received from Apple to send critical alertsEven when your iPhone is in silent mode, the Google assistant is capable of sending a notification that will make the device ring. This is how you can receive that sound alert that will help you locate the terminal. And maybe soon you can use the option without saying Ok Google.
So, if you are a user of a smart speaker or device with Google Assistant and you have an iPhone with the Google Home application installed, now you can lean on it for when you don't know where you left the iPhone. That, yes, we hope that it is always at home or some place where you can recover it.
Well, I just tried it, it had always worked for me with my previous androids but it doesn't work with my iphone. To say that I have been with it since last July and with the google home app, since I manage all the home automation with this app. However when asking google to locate my iPhone it just says that it can only find android devices that I have used recently.
