Roborock has the ultimate combo for your home: a washing machine with a built-in robot vacuum cleaner.

  • 4-in-1 concept that integrates a washer-dryer and a robot vacuum cleaner-floor scrubber into a single compact unit.
  • Two modules with a lower base for the robot and a unique drainage system that saves space and water.
  • Control from a panel, app, and voice, with sensors to adjust the wash and intelligent robot navigation.
  • Project under development with no confirmed date; the brand is considering future plans for compatibility with other models.

The base of the washing machine where the robot is stored

Roborock has taken advantage of the IFA fair (held just a few days ago in Berlin) to showcase a new concept in household appliances that seeks to reduce devices and simplify our domestic routines. We are referring to the Homewide Cleaning Combo, a system that combines laundry and floor cleaning in a single unit. Just like that. In a chassis roughly the size of a washing machine, the device integrates washing, drying, vacuuming, and scrubbing with the aim of optimize space and time at home. Basically, a washer-dryer with a base for a robot vacuum cleaner. How come no one thought of this before?

A compact and intelligent system for clothing and floors

The team is structured in this way in two main modules: above, the washer-dryer; below, a compartment from which the robot exits and returns automatically for its vacuuming and mopping tasks. The design thus avoids adding extra furniture and centralizes the robot's maintenance in the same column. As far as we know, both modules share a unique drainage system, with a common set of pipes that reduces installation complexity and, above all, the space required for the base. This integration is the key to ensuring the unit doesn't grow in size compared to a conventional washing machine.

Team management can be done from a central panel, the mobile app, or via voice commandsThis way, you can schedule a wash cycle while the robot vacuums or mops the kitchen after the meal, all from a single control point.

As for the casting part, the machine incorporates load and dirt level sensors to automatically adjust the program, cycle time, and drying temperature. The goal is to adapt the process to the actual state of each wash and avoid unnecessary consumption.

The robot, for its part, uses home mapping and surface recognition to plan routes and adapt its power or water flow to the type of floor (nothing we haven't seen in current models). With the help of automation and AI, the system will learn usage patterns and optimize cleaning by room.

A relevant technical detail is the water reuse leftover water from washing is used to clean the robot's mops. This internal recycling helps reduce water consumption, and the brand maintains that it doesn't affect either the drum's or the robot's capacity.

The lower module integrates the robot's self-emptying and cleaning functions, and facilitates daily maintenance. dust bag, of course, is accessible and is located above the robot compartment, so that it can be easily removed and replaced by hand.

Design and compatibility

The engineering of the whole has been oriented to maintain the format of a single appliance, without increasing the height Neither does it sacrifice drum volume or the full functionality of an advanced robot base. The key seems to be compressing the base under the washing machine, without compromising performance.

Roborock has also indicated that it intends to enable in the future compatibility with different robots of the brand, so that users can renew the robot and keep the washer-dryer base, thus extending the useful life of the system.

Availability

At the moment, the Roborock Homewide Cleaning Combo is a conceptual project with no confirmed release date, since the company has to continue developing the design before finalizing its arrival on the markets.

The idea, however, doesn't sound fantastic and points to a clear convergence: fewer gadgets, more features in a single device, and unified control that reduces repetitive tasks. If it manages to materialize with the promised specifications, it could be attractive to those looking for save space and time without giving up automated home maintenance. Of course, the price remains to be seen.
