Wrapped in a maelstrom of political controversy, the Huawei Mate 30 has been officially presented to the world today. And it does so by making a lot of noise, since as you can see below, this is a somewhat peculiar launch. An all-powerful team that lacks one of the software branches most used by users around the world. So are the new Huawei Mate 30 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro.
Features of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro
The phone is a beast at the specification level. Huawei has continued to perfect the aesthetic aspect of its terminal, reaching really interesting finishes, with a OLED display called Huawei Horizon Display in the case of the Mate 30 Pro, offering endless bezels to deliver a completely immersive viewing experience. This of the screens with extremely curved and endless bezels is beginning to be a trend, although if you don't like them, you can always enjoy a traditional screen on the Mate 30.
This "all screen" has forced the removal of the classic volume buttons for reasons of space. Now that almost the entire body of the device is a screen, there is no hole to insert the physical side buttons, so the manufacturer has managed to design some virtual buttons that we can place where we like. Both phones mount the new processor Kirin 990 manufactured with 7 nanometer technology, the brand's most powerful brain that also comes with 5G connectivity. There is no doubt that technically this CPU will offer exceptional performance, in addition to the artificial intelligence functions offered by the new Da Vinci NPU and the new 16-core GPU.
What differences are there between the Huawei Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro?
Both models are identical in specifications, although there are some differences related to the screen, the cameras and the fingerprint reader. As we have previously mentioned, the screen Horizon Display is exclusive to the Mate 30 Pro, offering a size of 6,53 inches and hiding under it a fingerprint reader, while the Mate 30 dispenses with these ultra-curved bezels, gaining a little more screen with a 6,62-inch diagonal.
The Mate 30 Pro also includes the new set of four cameras, while the Mate 30 stays in a fairly neat triple camera.

Four cameras like four eyes to see everything
The rumors and leaks that we had seen so far were correct. The back of the device presents a beautiful circular design that encloses the four cameras that the Mate 30 Pro includes. Unlike in previous occasions, where a special sensor predominates, on this occasion Huawei has preferred to give importance to no less than two sensors, in order to give life to what the brand calls the SuperSensing Cine Camera. Because yes, on this occasion Huawei has decided to give importance to photography and video, something that until now belonged to the P family.
This couple is made up of two 40-megapixel sensors of different sizes and formats, since each one is designed to get the most out of each of its facets. So we have a 3-megapixel 2/40-inch RGGB 1:1,54 sensor specially designed for video, while on the photographic side we have a 4-megapixel RYYB 3:40 sensor.
El Mate 30 loses the 3D Depth sensor, so it will not be able to offer the real-time video blur effects that the Mate 30 Pro offers. It is undoubtedly a feature that will help achieve more professional results, which is why the Pro label goes to the hair of this model .
The telephoto lens with 3x zoom It will be able to offer 5 magnifications in hybrid format and 30 magnifications digitally. This lens also has a double stabilization system made up of an optical stabilization system and another stabilization system based on artificial intelligence and the depth sensor.
Both models also have a 3D Depth sensor on the front to be able to offer advanced blur effects in selfies (sensor also used in unlocking the terminal and in gesture control). Among other outstanding features related to photo and video, we find a new extreme slow motion video recording mode, since the device is capable of capturing videos at a speed of 7680 frames per second. A complete madness (although we smell that it will be at a fairly low resolution). We can also record videos in 40K at 60 images per second and a new night mode with sensitivities of up to 409600 ISO.
Android AOSP without Google services
The other side of the coin in this release comes from the software part. As you may be imagining, pressure from the United States on Huawei has forced the brand to do without Google services on its new phone. All phones prior to the Mate 30 will continue to work and be updated in the traditional way, however, these new devices will release a new ecosystem created by the brand itself to be able to offer solutions to users who purchase the device.
The idea has been none other than to make use of the free version of the Android open source project (Android AOSP), so that the operating system arrives without Google services. This means that new devices will arrive no Gmail, no Google Maps, no YouTube and nothing related to the Mountain View company. As the brand itself has commented, they are working on offering an interface and a configuration system that facilitates the reconfiguration process for users, and in a certain way, guides them so that they can get the services they are looking for.
This translates into a new ecosystem of services called Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), which supported by Huawei's application store (App Gallery), will offer users the ability to download applications directly to their phone. This, which may seem like a good solution at first, actually hides another very serious problem, and it is none other than the availability of applications. Will you be able to easily download WhatsApp when you launch the Mate 30? Possibly not, as WhatsApp is currently not in the App Gallery. Price and release date of the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro
At the time of writing this article, Huawei had not provided us with the exact launch date of both models, although we do know that they will reach the European market sometime between October and November, a date that is somewhat up in the air due to the adjustments that is making the mark in the transition to a world without Google services.

As for the colors, there is a choice. The Mate 30 comes in 6 colors to choose from and two types of materials: glass and vegan leather -yes, vegan. Same for the Mate 30 Pro.
