The next major update to the Xiaomi ecosystem is already in the works: HyperOS 3 Global has a presentation date and comes with a rollout plan that won't be immediate. The company has also clarified which models will be left without Android 16, even though they will receive this new version of its layer.
The company is preparing a release with visual changes and internal adjustments that focus on fluidity, design consistency, and cross-device integration. HyperOS is Xiaomi's own system, built on AOSP, the Linux kernel, and integrating Vela, designed to link mobile phones, wearables, and even cars with the same language.
HyperOS 3 Global Release Date and Deployment
Xiaomi has pointed out the September 24 as the day chosen to showcase HyperOS 3 Global at its European event, where the Xiaomi 15T will also be released. That doesn't mean the OTA will arrive on your phone that same day: The deployment usually opens after the event and spread in phases, with recent high-end models typically among the first candidates.
In parallel, the brand is already testing the global firmware of HyperOS 3 on models such as the Redmi Note 14, which anticipates a early update windowEven so, widespread releases are likely to begin in October, with a specific roadmap for each family.
What's changing in HyperOS 3
We're not talking about a revolution, but rather a more polished delivery. We'll find a refined interface with that “liquid crystal” air much talked about, more customization options and a lighter feel in animations, transitions and gestures.
Among the highlighted functions, Xiaomi incorporates new experience features such as “Super Island” and improvements in the continuity between devices in the ecosystem. It's not a radical change of direction, but it is a step forward to make everything run more smoothly.
Two bases: Android 16 vs Android 15
It is important to distinguish between the layer and the base. HyperOS 3 will not always be mounted on Android 16: Most recent models will update based on that, but a large group will receive HyperOS 3 on top of Android 15.

Before you upgrade: space and recommendations

To make room, you can delete apps you don't use, clean up downloads, or purge temporary and duplicate files (if you prefer, with reputable cleaning tools). Also make sure to update with sufficient battery, a stable WiFi connection and, if it makes you feel better, do a Backup before pressing the button.
With all this in mind, HyperOS 3 Global comes with a clear roadmap: interface and performance updates, two possible bases depending on the model and a group of terminals that will receive its last big jump in Android 15.
