Foldable screens could finally take off this year, but few brands are taking the plunge with this technology. Samsung was the first to make a move , but other companies like Xiaomi reportedly already have their foldable smartphones ready to launch.

The person responsible for revealing the image was none other than Evan Blass , who has a solid track record of illustrations. On his Twitter account, he shared the video you'll see below, which supposedly shows Xiaomi's foldable smartphone in action.

As you'll see below, a fully functional touchscreen device is displayed , allowing you to navigate menus and open applications—it appears to be running a version of MIUI 10, the Chinese company's customized operating system. It's precisely after launching Google Maps that the device transforms , switching from its tablet format to a large-screen smartphone that remains fully functional without any lag. The interface, of course, adapts to the new format in a matter of seconds.

Evan notes in his tweet that he can't 100% guarantee the authenticity of the video or the device itself, but that it was sent to him with the assurance that it's a Xiaomi product. The leaker even asks his Twitter followers what they think, receiving a largely positive response from people who believe the video, and therefore the gadget, appear to be genuine.

PhoneArena points out that this isn't the first time we've heard about this foldable smartphone. Ishan Agarwal, who also has a solid reputation for leaks—he was the one who revealed the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition , for example—claimed to have heard about this device some time ago, so this information could be much more reliable than we initially thought.

We are going to need more clues anyway before we believe what we see. For now we will keep this video in quarantine until Xiaomi speaks... or a new leak reaches our hands.
