HMD Global took advantage of this week to unveil the new Nokia 8.1 , the natural successor to the Nokia 7.1 . In addition to announcing the device, the company gave a few interviews, in which, besides confirming the name " Nokia 9 ," they revealed the reason for its delay . Here's everything the company has disclosed about the phone and the reasons for its postponement.
Nokia 9 PureView: when to meet us?
Britta Gerbracht, global marketing director for HMD Global in Germany, spoke to us about the upcoming phone. In an interview with a German media outlet, she acknowledged that the Nokia 9 PureView has indeed been delayed longer than expected and that there is a compelling reason for this.
Apparently, the phone's development team has never been entirely satisfied with the results of the smartphone's main camera —or should we say, cameras?—and, of course, this has caused more than one delay. This is a rumor that had already been circulating. According to Gerbracht, HMD Global wants to focus particularly on product quality in its next flagship phone, and that means having to move launch dates if the product isn't as polished as they expect.
The folks at WinFuture.de also point out that the executive repeatedly mentions the name "Nokia 9," thus confirming that this will indeed be the name under which the device will be marketed when it's released. And when will that be? Well, that remains the big question surrounding this phone. The executive confirms that we'll see the device in early 2019 , but without specifying a further timeline.

If we think about the events we have at the beginning of the year, the team could well surprise at CES 2019 (which will take place in Las Vegas practically at the beginning of January), wait for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (it is held at end of February) or organize your own independent press conference between these two very important technology fairs.
HMD Global can boast of having already sold 70 million Nokia phones , although not all have performed as expected. Gerbracht admits that, for example, the Nokia 8 and especially the Nokia 8 Sirocco haven't generated the anticipated sales figures. Even so, the company wants to focus particularly on its flagship models , so starting next year we'll see a more pronounced shift from the brand towards this type of device. What better way to demonstrate their intentions than with the Nokia 9 PureView, don't you think?
