Welcome, Oppo Reno: what's so special about the new phone from the Asian house?

Oppo reno

We were looking forward to it and it has finally arrived. Oppo has announced the upcoming arrival of his new phone Reindeer, with which it also inaugurates a new family (such as the RX or the Find) within its catalogue. But what is special about this new smartphone? Well, we are going to try to answer this question for you.

Oppo Reno: high performance and different qualities

Oppo wanted to inaugurate this new range within its portfolio with a full-featured phone. The new Reno smartphone is not the typical phone with just the right qualities at a rock-bottom price that aims to become a device for the masses. Instead, the Chinese company has overlooked and wanted us to associate the reindeer family with high-end, presenting a terminal that complies practically in all aspects -at least on paper, of course.

What undoubtedly most attracts the attention of the phone is an all-screen in a completely literal way. Where is the selfie camera then? The Chinese company wanted to hide it -by the way, it is 16 MP- in a new type of mechanism consisting of a kind of cradle that comes out of the upper area as a retractable element. We will have to see how this system "ages" after using it repeatedly, without a doubt the biggest doubt that can arise when seeing how its deployment works.

Another of the key points that its design implies is that the phone does not offer facial recognition. By not having an open camera available, the phone bases its security system on the integrated fingerprint on the screen, technology present thanks to its OLED panel.

You can choose between two versions of the phone. On the one hand we have the model Reindeer proper (or Reno Standard Edition) with screen size of 6,4 inches, processor Snapdragon 710 and double rear camera (one of them with a 48 MP sensor while the other offers a wide angle with a 5 MP resolution).

On the other, the Reno 10x Zoom Edition, with size of 6,6", more powerful processor (we are talking about a Snapdragon 855) and, as its name suggests, an extra camera (the third in this case on the back) with 13 MP and an optical zoom of no less than 10x, a feature that had already been rumored and that has finally been confirmed in this edition of the terminal, thus becoming another of the key and most characteristic points of this new proposal.

Remember that already at MWC, the firm was showing the benefits of its powerful 10x optical zoom and promised to include it on their phones soon. This is more than a good sign that the house has fulfilled its promise. Below you can see one of the photography examples shown on the official website with its 10X zoom and a little further down you will find a link to a video in which they also told us about their works and miracles.

Both devices have an NFC connection and VOOC 3.0 fast charging, come with 6 or 8 GB of RAM, and are offered in very attractive colors: light blue, black, pale pink and purple.
