Xiaomi decided to schedule the presentation of its new Mi 9 on a rather peculiar day: the same day Samsung had chosen to unveil its new Galaxy S10 . Whether by coincidence or not (we don't think so), the day has arrived, and we now have the new flagship with all its features and new functions on display.
Features of the new Xiaomi Mi 9
We are talking about one of the most important phones of the brand, since it is the latest model of its most prominent family. This launch comes accompanied by a large number of new additions, details that continue to demonstrate the growth of Xiaomi worldwide, not only by impact, but also at an industrial level, where they already rub shoulders with the largest and have access to components of high end.
One example of this is the screen, a 6,29-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 6 protection that brings light and color to the device. This screen covers 90,7% of the front of the device, dimensions that obviously don't reach the level of the Mi MIX 3, but represent significant improvements over the Mi 8 (they've managed to reduce the bezel by 40%).
Teardrop notch display
This screen is made by Samsung, and as in the phones of the Korean brand, it offers very interesting features with which to enjoy better image quality. Thus, for example, we have the 2.0 reading mode, which increases the color temperature levels from 32 to 256 levels to obtain a smoother transition in the brightness. It also includes a high brightness mode with which to increase the brightness by 39% compared to the standard mode, as well as a mode for use under the sun (Sunlight mode 2.0) that controls the contrast and optimizes the image to improve vision in exteriors.
Another feature included with the camera is the integrated fingerprint reader . It's an optical sensor with a 5-nanometer pixel size, making it an advanced sensor that should deliver excellent results when quickly reading your fingerprint. A teardrop notch has also been included, a solution that makes room for the front-facing camera and maximizes screen space. However, we would have preferred a hole-punch design.
Beneath the screen lies a Snapdragon 855 processor with Kiro 485 cores, Adreno 640 graphics, and a Hexagon 690 image processor. These features are further enhanced by Game Turbo technology, which improves performance and battery life during extended gaming sessions. Versions will be available with 6GB and 8GB of RAM , both with 128GB of internal storage, while an Explorer Edition will offer 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
The triple camera arrives
Another new feature is the rear camera, as the new Mi 9 incorporates a triple-lens setup offering 2x telephoto (12 megapixels), wide-angle (16 megapixels), and super-resolution 48-megapixel lenses with Sony's IMX586 main sensor. For photography, the phone uses an autofocus system that combines laser focus, PDAF, and CDAF, mechanisms that, according to the manufacturer, will provide faster and more accurate focusing, even in low light.
The three cameras are protected by a sapphire crystal that will prevent scratches and all kinds of small damage over time, and as an aesthetic point, the lenses incorporate a layer of dark pigment that gives a more unified look with the rest of the elements.
Price and release date
Although the price of the Xioami Mi 9 in Spain will be known on February 24 at an event within the framework of the MWC, today's presentation in China has also served to give us an idea of ​​how much the new Mi 9 will cost in Spain if we do case of currency exchange. According to the prices announced in China, the price of the Mi 9 would be as follows:
- Mi 9 with 6GB / 128 GB: 2.999 Chinese yuan (about 382 euros)
- Mi 9 with 8 GB / 128 GB: 3.299 Chinese yuan (about 420 euros)
- Mi 9 Explorer Edition with 12 GB / 256 GB: 3.999 Chinese yuan (about 509 euros)
