February is shaping up to be one of the best months of the year for technology, thanks to the number of product launches we expect to see. Among them is the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi 9 , a smartphone that will take the baton from none other than the popular Mi 8. Although we still don't know exactly what it will look like, a new real-life image has given us a glimpse of its design. Take a look.

This isn't the first time we've seen a leak of the Xiaomi Mi 9, but it is one of the first that we can say shows it in real life. Below you'll find the image that's currently circulating widely online, as everyone claims it's a genuine photo showing the back of the phone. The image was also leaked on Weibo , an Asian platform that frequently provides us with this kind of material.

Despite the fact that a person is holding the phone and partially obscuring its body, it's clear this could be the next flagship device from the Asian company, as it matches other images (renders, in this case) that have surfaced of the device. As our colleagues at Movilzona point out , the most striking feature of the photo is undoubtedly its camera system , whose layout aligns with leaks, featuring a third sensor noticeably separated (and highlighted) from the two main ones.
The Xiaomi logo is also visible on the bottom of the phone's casing, not to mention the absence of a fingerprint reader on the back —an expected omission since, according to leaks and rumors, the sensor should be integrated into the phone's screen. Even the smartphone's chassis itself could be a subject of analysis, as it sports a mirror-like finish reminiscent of, for example, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 —let's hope, though, that it's not a fingerprint magnet.
If everything goes according to plan, Xiaomi's new phone should be unveiled in just over two weeks, on February 19th . That's when we'll finally know for sure what this device looks like and what features it offers, although given the pace of leaks we've been seeing lately, we might even get a glimpse of it sooner.
