Instagram He has given us today possibly the anecdote of the week. It turns out that a few hours ago the users of the platform began to report image feed changes: these were no longer seen by sliding your finger down, as always, but by touching, like the Stories. The implementation, however, has been removed shortly after. What happened Instagram?
Changes in the feed: goodbye to the scroll
The alarm went off a few hours ago. Many users began to notify through social networks that their Instagram feed had changed and I no longer gave an option to do scroll down (swipe up and down with your finger) to see the photos of the people you follow (so-called feed, in case the term catches you again). Instead, to go from one photo to another, you had to touch the screen, simulating the same gesture that we do when viewing the Stories.
I have the new Instagram horizontal scroll interface. I'm sure this will not be met with any backlash WHATSOEVER. But seems maybe intended to reduce mindless vertical scrolling? DC @mosseri comments at the end? pic.twitter.com/fwmtbfjFaf

people turned crazy. In a matter of minutes, platforms like Twitter or Instagram itself were filled with complaints for this new way of viewing as well as questions about what caused this change. The malaise was common, showing a practically general rejection among all those who had received this update that has not gone unnoticed... not even the people of Instagram, of course.
And it is that time after this surprise implementation, the firm has eliminated the so-called function tap to view of all the accounts in which it had been activated and has published on social networks that it has been nothing more than a error from the platform. The social network has acknowledged that it has deployed unintentionally a function that right now is simply in testing and that what was going to be a small test has been opened to a large part of the public by mistake.
UPDATE: Instagram confirmed to me that the tap-to-view feature was a TEST which rolled out to lots of users in error.
It has now been reversed. https://t.co/9LRmw5B0G1

Users have been much calmer when verifying that the feed has indeed returned to normal but They didn't believe a word, mocking the statements of Instagram. The theory that is most widely shared at the moment is that the network had indeed decided to give the green light to a new gradual update and seeing the massive rejection and sound, he has decided to abort the mission, apologizing that it was due to a programming error.
Be that as it may, the important thing is that the feed is restored and it has been proven that, for the good of the platform, should not be implemented. If at this point you still have the tap to view, Instagram advises that you restart the application, so you should stop seeing that layout and return to the scroll of a lifetime.
