As usual, WaBetaInfo has discovered a new feature that will arrive in future versions of the popular messaging application: a new battery saving mode for WhatsApp. Or, at least, a feature that will help consume less energy when we really need it: when we run out of battery.
WhatsApp, energy saving and dark mode
Many things are asked of WhatsApp, but two of the most important are dark mode and greater energy efficiency. For those who have said messaging application as one of the most used on a day-to-day basis, this is vital.
Also, as if that were not enough, most of the mobile devices that surround us make use of screens with OLED technology. One of their main advantages is the possibility of turning on only the pixels necessary to display the image you want to display. Therefore, if, with the exception of some specific elements, the rest is completely black, the potential battery savings can be significant.

Well, WhatsApp has not yet released a 100% dark mode. The reasons are not known, but it seems that a new option could soon arrive that would help improve this energy consumption. As published by WaBetaInfo, in the theme settings a new option appears that complements the choice of a dark, light theme and now the new battery saving setting.
This new setting for battery saving would be linked to that future dark mode since when activated the interface would be changed to try to save more battery. We don't know if it will imply some kind of additional limitation, such as the automatic download of images, etc., but for now it would be good news if you make intensive use of the application.
How this new mode or settings would be used, well, very easy. If you select it as a theme, when the phone enters energy saving mode is when it would be activated to further help in said action of saving energy consumption. As long as this is not the case and the terminal has sufficient battery, everything would work the same and the WhatsApp interface itself would not change.
So to speak, it would be something similar to the interface changes applied, for example, by iOS depending on the time the operating system is being used.
For the rest, there is not much information about when this feature would be activated or when the dark mode would arrive. And most importantly, would this be something that would go live first for iOS users or for Android users? At the moment it is in the beta version 2.19.353.
Let's see if this option arrives in the next final version of the application and also the dark mode that is so expected and demanded.
