Spotify launches a new shared account as a couple: the cheapest way to have Spotify Premium?

SpotifyDuo

Spotify is testing something new, and no, it's not another playlist to liven up your workday. It's a way to reduce the cost of subscribing to its Premium service. It's called Spotify Duo , and it lets you enjoy two Premium accounts for €12,49.

This new subscription method involves more than just sharing expenses. Both linked accounts will enjoy a playlist called Duo Mix , a selection of both people's favorite music, allowing them to share their tastes whenever they want. In addition, Duo Hub will also be available , a dashboard for managing accounts and all settings, as well as the ability to share their stored music library.

When will Spotify Duo be available?

For now, this new payment method is available in a testing phase in select countries. Spotify Duo is currently available in Colombia , Chile , Denmark , Ireland , and Poland , so we'll have to wait until the service rolls it out to the rest of the countries where it operates.

How much does Spotify Duo cost?

This new couples' subscription plan will cost €12,49, a very attractive price considering the individual subscription costs €9,99 . We also have a family plan , which allows you to share the subscription among up to five accounts and costs €14,99.

What is the cheapest Spotify plan?

Spotify offers several different subscription plans depending on the number of people who will use the service, and although shared plans are designed for users who live at the same address, users often share accounts with friends and family. Taking these details into account, Spotify's offerings are as follows:

  • Spotify for students: 4,99 euros per month.
  • Spotify Premium Family Plan: 14,99 euros per month (4,99 euros per month per person).
  • SpotifyDuo: 12,49 euros per month (6,25 euros per month per person).
  • Spotify Premium: 9,99 euros per month.

As you can see, the new Spotify Duo option isn't the cheapest compared to the other plans, but if you stick to responsible usage and follow the service's recommendations (sharing the account with people who actually live in the same household), the numbers start to make sense. And remember, with Spotify Duo you'll have shared playlists!
