No more adding people without permission
The situation we described earlier is much more common than you might think. People take the liberty of adding others to groups without first asking if they want to participate, often putting them in an uncomfortable or compromising position. And that's not even mentioning the lack of respect shown for personal information when your phone number is exposed and accessible to the other group members, perhaps without your consent.
To prevent this scenario from recurring, WhatsApp has begun working on an update to avoid it. According to WABetaInfo, the company's plan involves introducing an invitation and permissions system to regulate these actions and give invited users more control. This will involve adding a new Groups option within the Privacy section (in the app's Settings menu), where you can decide whether to allow anyone to add you to a group (as before); whether to only allow your contacts to add you to a group without asking; or whether you prefer to always receive a permission request , regardless of who invites you.
In this last case, as you can see in the screenshot above, you'll receive an invitation to join a group and you'll have 72 hours to accept or decline it, after which it will expire. If this happens, you'll have to wait for a new invitation. By the way, you can't receive two invitations from the same group at the same time, so if someone has already invited you, no one else will be able to until that invitation expires.
