But for many people, the anticipation of movie and television series releases does not seem to be enough. From Endgame, there are many fans who are crying out for the return to the big screen of their favorite heroes. A few days ago, the medium ComicBook was interviewing Chris Evans, and they asked him if he would return or not to protect himself with Captain America's shield. And the response has been quite cold, something that should not surprise us coming from a man who has spent more time under ice than under the Sun.
Has Chris Evans been bored of doing the same thing all day?
Chris Evans is currently promoting Lightyear, the movie that moved Andy in Toy Story and that it will be released worldwide this very same Friday June 17. The Boston actor is the one who gives the voice of the astronaut in his original version in this new Pixar production. And, although his idea was to promote the spin off de Toy Story, the interview of ComicBook strayed a bit, and they finished talking about the actor's future as Captain America.
Evans spoke without cutting a hair, and demonstrated once again how complicated it is to return to interpret a role when the role has been left bar so high:
«I know a lot of people would like to see me play Captain America again, but it's hard. I am very happy with the good run we had, and I don't want to disappoint anyone. My time as Steve Rogers was very nice and it means a lot to me. Returning means modifying a stage that was very special, and with which I am satisfied with the result. "
To some extent, Evans is afraid of donning the Cap suit again and disappointing his audience, as it would somewhat taint everything he has worked on thus far. However, the actor did not close any doors, and he was open to playing Captain America again. For this, he stated that Marvel would have to make him a proposal of another level.
Will we see Chris Evans as Captain America again?
Despite the fact that Evans' words seem to indicate that we will not see him playing Cap again, many people think that he is nothing more than a diversion maneuver. In January 2021, rumors began to circulate that Evans would reprise his role as Captain America. He would not be in a leading role, but rather a supporting one, in the same way that Strange had footage in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That hypothesis has not yet been ruled out.
The other option that is also being considered is for Captain America to return to the UCM, but without Chris Evans. With the Multiverse open, all of this is possible, just like we saw in the latest Doctor Strange movie. In the meantime, we will have to settle for Samuel Wilson's Captain America movie, who is the character who took over from Steve Rogers after Falcon and the Winter Soldier. At the moment, said film does not have a release date.
