With the Scarlet and Purple series facing its final stretch, The Pokémon Company opens a new stage with Mega Evolution and its first collection: Ghostly FlaresThis change of cycle in the Pokémon Trading Card Game comes with rule adjustments, design updates, and a more than interesting competitive focus.
The expansion puts a focus on Fire and Dark types and brings back some community favorites. Among the names that make the rounds are Mega Charizard X and Mega Gengar, which are added to new Pokémon ex and different rarities designed for the game and the collection.
Key dates and how to play before
Those who want to try out the cards before the physical release will be able to do so in the Play! Pokémon Pre-Release tournaments starting on November 1th, while the digital version in the Pokémon Live TCG will be enabled on November 13th on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.
The store release is scheduled for November 14th 2025 in Latin America. On that date, Ghostly Flares will arrive in stores with several official products, following the usual distribution line of the franchise.

As a notable change, it is no longer essential to go through all the intermediate stages to mega evolve: you can move forward directly from the compatible Pokémon to its Mega Evolution form without stopping at the previous phase.
