Netflix certainly knows how to kick off the year with a bang. The streaming platform has launched 2019 by announcing the official release date for Stranger Things 3 , the third season of one of its flagship series. Ready to mark your calendars and enjoy a new and mysterious teaser video?

Stranger Things 3: fECha premiere

Last December, Netflix gave us some valuable information about Stranger Things. They revealed the titles of all the episodes in the third season , which helped us understand their length and start speculating about what we'll soon see on screen. A teaser released by the company in the summer also helped, giving us the first clues about one of the season's key locations: the Starcourt Mall (where one of the show's supporting characters, Steve Harrington, will be working).

Now the streaming service has revealed another important detail: the release date. Netflix has confirmed that Stranger Things 3 will arrive on July 4 , 2019. That's when all the episodes will be available , allowing viewers to choose their viewing schedule—anyone else already thinking about binge-watching?

This isn't the only news. The official poster for the season has also been revealed , as you can see in the image above. It features Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), looking directly at the viewers, holding hands with Mike (Finn Wolfhard), who is looking at her. The rest of the gang are in the background, with Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Max (Sadie Sink) watching fireworks explode. Will (Noah Schnapp), on the left of the image, is unsettling; he's ignoring the fireworks like his friends and also looking at the viewer with a worried expression.

It is worth noting the poster's headline, which reads " One summer can change everything".

Stranger Things 3: video announcement of the premiere

To announce the highly anticipated premiere date, Netflix has also created, as expected, a special video . It's a fictional broadcast of a New Year's Eve special in 1985 for the town of Hawkins. The broadcast is sponsored by Starcourt Mall and ends abruptly, interspersed with a screenshot that first displays "When blue and yellow meet in the west" (0:13) and then a sort of MS-DOS interface where the file "SilverCatFeeds.exe" from an entity called Lynx Corp. is about to be executed.

What will these images mean? do you have any theory? It seems to us that Netflix intends to leave us eating our heads for a long time. How long the wait will be until July...
