Add to that the fact that the D23 Expo , the event dedicated to Disney fans, is currently taking place in Anaheim, California, and we have the perfect stage for announcements and secrets about the new streaming service to be revealed. One example? The trailer for The Mandalorian , which has just been unveiled, much to the delight of Star Wars fans in particular and curious viewers in general.
Remember that The Mandalorian is one of the biggest bets Disney+ is bringing with its launch. It's a television series based on a character from the Star Wars universe, a lone gunslinger whose adventures we follow across the galaxy far, far away after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order. The Mandalorian is special not only because it's part of Disney's new service's catalog; it's also because it's the franchise's first live-action television adaptation.

Such is the importance of the series that, of course, no expense has been spared. According to a recent leak to The Wall Street Journal , reliable sources speak of an investment of $15 million per episode, a staggering sum, with meticulous attention to detail in the sets and costumes (which have even been compared to those of Mad Max ).
The project, by the way, is backed by Jon Favreau and his keen critical eye (in addition to being the creator, he also serves as director (along with other colleagues), screenwriter, showrunner and producer) and boasts a significant cast of actors, including faces that you'll probably recognize, such as its protagonist, Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones or Javier Peña in Narcos), Gina Carano (Deadpool ), Giancarlo Esposito (the fantastic villain Gus Fring from Breaking Bad ) , Emily Swallow ( Supernatural , The Mentalist ), Carl Weathers (Rocky, Predator ) or Omid Abtahi ( American Gods , The Hunger Games ), among others.
