Although the most traditional fans have never (entirely) viewed Tom Holland as Spider-man with good eyes due to his youth and his profile more aimed at a new, younger audience, the truth is that the actor has earned his goodwill. fame in an important sector of followers of the UCM. Not only for having known how to fit the role well and give it a personal touch that convinces when embodying the Super Hero; also for the great commitment that he has always shown with the community and with Marvel, showing that he is also a big fan of his stories and the movies in which he participates.
Holland still has several participations within Marvel Studios clad in his stretchy suit -among them the highly anticipated film Spider-man 3-, but the actor is also aware that if he relaxes and settles in, he can remain pigeonholed forever in the character, making it more difficult for him to participate in other types of cinema. Cherry, the new from the Russo brothers
The proposal that now comes to Apple TV + is called Cherry and is run by none other than brothers Joe and Anthony Russo. The same ones that shaped Avengers: Endgame once again count on Holland to give life to an ex-soldier who has returned from military service, even participating in a war conflict. His departure from his army will not be easy, becoming addicted to opioids to calm his anxiety and his continuous nightmares, and committing crimes to pay for his addiction.
It is a film developed both for the cinema and for the Apple content platform, which will release it as original content of the catalogue, and which is based on a book of the same name written by Nico Walker -who tells his own story in the novel. Ciara Bravo (The Teacher), Jack Reynor (Midsummar), Michael Rispoli (The Deuce) and Jeff Wahlberg (Dora and the lost city), although "Holland especially shines", as Joe Russo himself recently said in an interview, pointing out that we are witnessing the transition from a young actor to an adult character.
If nothing fails, Cherry will hit the big screen on February 26 and just two weeks later, the March 12 to Apple TV+. Remember that with this "double game" the chances of repercussions for the film are greater, especially when it comes to opting for certain industry awards -such as the Oscars.
