The Official State Gazette has published the Call for grants for research and development projects in artificial intelligence and other dual technologies, promoted by the public entity Red.es and co-financed by the European Union through the ERDF program.
The initiative seeks to accelerate the adoption of AI solutions in value chains from multiple sectors through prototypes, pilot tests, and demonstrators, with support ranging from 25% to 60% of the eligible cost and project budgets between €400.000 and €5 million.

This program is aimed at promote the integration of AI and other dual technologies in real processes and products, promoting experimental development and validation in usage environments to measure their impact on productivity and competitiveness. In addition, progress in strategic areas is promoted. Each organization can submit up to three proposals and obtain funding for a maximum of two, provided that the initiatives have a real incentive effect: without public support, these proposals would not be implemented or would be of limited implementation.

Projects that are considered eligible are: develop, promote or adopt digital technologies and foster demand through actions such as sector-specific driving projects, demonstrators, and platforms that allow for analysis of their viability in real-life settings, including the transfer and dissemination of results.
Actions focused on Business R&D and technological entrepreneurship that address social challenges through research, development and innovation, generating knowledge and scalable solutions.
- Strategic areas: Artificial Intelligence, robotics and autonomous systems.
- Enabling technologies: IoT and smart sensors, cybersecurity and advanced materials.
- Environments and support: space technologies, navigation systems, virtual reality and connectivity.
- Project execution: prototypes, pilot tests and technological validations within the work plan.
The scope of application may include any economic sector, except for healthcare, for which a specific call is planned (RedIA Salud).
Amounts, percentages and modalities
The eligible budget per project ranges from 400.000 € and 5.000.000 €, and aid intensities vary from 25% to 60%, depending on the type of action and other criteria of the call.
Red.es may make an advance payment of 40% of the aid, subject to the provision of guarantees. The aid is granted under a system of competitive competition and may take the form of a monetary grant, in kind, or a combination of both.
