The Westeros universe makes another move: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is closer than ever, and unless there is a surprise, it will arrive in January to HBO MaxThe network has put to rest doubts about its premiere window after several teasers and a few broken promises (such as a late 2025 release date).
The news at least arrived accompanied by a new official poster with the slogan "A great story that became a legend" and the focus is on its two protagonists. The production, filmed in Belfast, recently finished filming and has the public support of George RR Martin, who has confessed that he has already been able to watch the six episodes of its first season.
Release date and where to watch
HBO has confirmed that the series will premiere in January, thus adjusting its release windowThis fit places fiction as one of the first major series releases of next yearThe next step will be to find out the exact date to mark on the calendar, something we might find out soon, when the platform decides to release its highly anticipated official trailer.
And the first preview is planned for the New York Comic Con, specifically the October 9, in a panel where more plot details and unreleased footage are expected. Along with the announcement of the release month, HBO has also released the first poster official, with Dunk and Egg as the main image.

what is the series about
Based on Tales of Dunk and Egg By George RR Martin, the story follows Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his young squire Aegon (Egg) in a Westeros prior to the main saga. The action takes place about 90 years before Game of Thrones and about half a century after the death of the last dragon, in a more earthly setting, with tournaments, oaths and dangers along the way.

Ira Parker, creative director of the series, emphasizes that this time they wanted to give it a more intimate and "ground-level" approach, focusing on common people and knights-errant, far from the usual courtly pomp. The idea is to explore a harsher, more skeptical Westeros, without dragons or great sorceries, but with the Targaryen imprint still present.
Among other peculiarities of the series, we know that they have also made the singular decision to dispense with the credits sequence traditional and the long musical introduction. Parker explains that it all aims to reflect Dunk's personality: direct, unadorned and practical, a narrative choice designed so that the staging is at the service of the character.
Cast and adaptation
Peter Claffey plays Ser Duncan the Tall, a knight of humble origins determined to forge his destiny, while Dexter Sol Ansell brings to life Egg, a squire with a royal identity and a key future in the Targaryen dynasty. Among the known Targaryens, appear Maekar, Baelor and Aerion, whose plots intersect more closely with the people. The cast is completed with Finn Bennett (Aerion Targaryen), Bertie Carvell (Baelor Targaryen), Sam spruell (Maekar Targaryen), Daniel Eng (Ser Lyonel Baratheon) and names like Ross Anderson, Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Steve Wall and Danny Webb, among others.
In the creative part there are George RR Martin and Ira Parker as creators and executive producers. The direction falls to Owen harris (first three episodes) and Sarah Adina Smith (the remaining ones).

The first season will feature six episodes and will start adapting The Hedge Knight (the wandering knight), the first of the short novels. The series is based on Martin's triptych of stories (completed by The Sworn Sword y The Mystery Knight), and the goal is bring its adventurous and human tone to the small screenFilming took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Connection to the rest of Westeros
The chronology places this story between House of the Dragon y Game of Thrones, with echoes of the Targaryen lineage, but from a different perspective. In parallel, HBO is developing, as you may know, other additional projects set on the continent, such as Aegon's ConquestThe famous sequel centered on Jon Snow, however, seems to be ruled out for now.
And you, are you looking forward to its release?
