What this season is about
Set in the 50s, the series reconstructs how isolation, psychosis and obsession with his mother pushed Gein into a spiral of crime in Plainfield, Wisconsin. The police investigation uncovered a gruesome scenario: exhumations in local cemeteries and objects made from human remains, from lampshades to chair covers.

The case includes the murders of Mary Hogan (1954) y Bernice Worden (1957), as well as suspicions about the death of his brother Henry. Gein was found guilty in the first degree but legally considered a person who was not mentally well, so was not tried and spent the rest of his life in a psychiatric institution, dying in 1984 from lung cancer.
Gein's true story inspired the book Psychosis de Robert Bloch (1959), adapted shortly after by Alfred Hitchcock, and left its mark on titles such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre y The silence of the lambs. The season explores that transfer between crime and fiction, showing how the case shaped archetypes of fear in Hollywood for decades.
Beyond Ed Gein: The Franchise Continues
The anthology already has the green light for a fourth installment focused on Lizzie Borden, with Ella Beatty as the protagonist. Some interpreters of the universe Monster They will repeat their presence with new roles, maintaining the structure of self-contained seasons on media crimes.
Where and when to see it
The title will be available globally on Netflix from October 3, 2025. The trailer represents a first contact which reveals its raw tone and its ambition to contextualize the facts without losing sight of its cultural legacy.

This third season of Monster It is undoubtedly set to be one of the releases most talked about stories of the fall, revisiting a real-life case to put into perspective the way in which real-life horror ended up shaping that of cinema.
