Bang & Olufsen wasn't going to miss the big event at CES 2019 and took advantage of the show to update one of its most popular headphones. The Beoplay E8s have been upgraded, now offering wireless charging and a matching charging case – a la AirPower, ahem . Check them out.
New Beoplay E8 headphones
CES 2019 has kicked off in Las Vegas, and new devices are starting to appear at a faster pace. Bang & Olufsen is responsible for this being a hot topic, as the company has taken advantage of the trade show to announce an update to one of its most popular headphone models.
We're talking about the Beoplay E8, a wireless option that now comes with a new and attractive charging case with a leather finish that can be recharged via cable (via USB-C port) or using a nice matching base made of similar materials for wireless transmission - yes, like Apple 's AirPower that still hasn't been released.
The headphones can be fully charged up to 3 times before the case's capacity is completely depleted (which, by the way, now comes with LEDs), going from the 12 hours of battery life offered by the original case to the 16 hours that can now be achieved.
As for the Beoplay E8 2.0 earbuds , they remain, as you can see in the image , in-ear headphones with a button design and exquisite finish. They support Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity and weigh 6 and 7 grams (left and right, respectively).
These headphone upgrades, unfortunately, won't come cheap . While the Beoplay E8 cost $299, the new 2.0 version will be priced at $350. In the Spanish market, the first generation of these E8s is priced at € 299 (Bang & Olufsen usually offers a 1:1 conversion), so it's expected that this new version will hit stores in the country for around €350.
As for their availability, they will make you wait a little longer since they will not be on sale until February 14 (we assume this is internationally, although it has not been specified).
The case, by the way, is also sold separately for use with the Beoplay E8, and can be purchased for $ 200 . No price has been mentioned for the base, but being B&O… don't expect anything cheap.
