Emirates has signed an agreement with Starlink to bring free, high-speed Wi-Fi to all aircraft in its fleet, with an onboard connection that aims to offer a home-like experience even at cruising altitude.
The rollout will begin in November 2025 on Boeing 777s and will be completed in the first half of 2027. The first aircraft equipped is the 777-300ER with registration A6-EPF , displayed at the Dubai Airshow, and the commercial debut is scheduled for November 23 , just after the event.
What changes for passengers
The service will be available free of charge to all customers , regardless of cabin, and will not require additional payments or Skywards membership. Access will be just a click away , simplifying the connection from your mobile phone, tablet, or laptop.
With Starlink, travelers will be able to use bandwidth-intensive applications such as streaming, online gaming and video calls , as well as messaging, social media, email and work tools.
The airline will integrate connectivity into both personal devices and seatback screens, enabling simultaneous use and a seamless experience throughout the flight.
In addition, Emirates will activate live TV via Starlink: first on personal devices and, from the end of December 2025 , also on individual screens.
Dates, aircraft, and installation pace
The modernization plan will cover 232 aircraft over approximately two years. Following the Dubai Airshow, the A6-EPF will resume commercial service, and the airline will accelerate the rollout.
The operational plan is to equip approximately 14 aircraft per month . Installation on the Airbus A380 fleet will begin in February 2026 , following the initial rollout on the Boeing 777s.
To ensure capacity and coverage , each 777 will carry two Starlink antennas , while each A380 will integrate three , a configuration designed to maintain high performance across all classes.
The service's commercial debut is scheduled for November 23, with the first equipped flight following the Dubai Airshow, and will be progressively expanded to more routes and aircraft as the installation progresses.
Impact in Spain and Europe
The measure comes in parallel with the announcement by the IAG group, which plans to offer free Starlink connectivity from 2026 on Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia , Level and Vueling , which anticipates greater homogeneity in the connectivity of European and long-haul flights.
For travelers in Spain, this evolution means more free internet options on Emirates flights connecting Europe and the Middle East, as well as on future routes from Iberia and Vueling, facilitating remote work and leisure on journeys of any duration.
Emirates' announcement coincides with its cabin renovation program , which is rolling out improvements such as Premium Economy, an updated Business Class and a revised First Class, along with entertainment systems with more than 6.500 channels.
The airline and Starlink emphasize that the connectivity aims to raise the bar for onboard productivity and real-time communication, integrating with the rest of the services to offer a more consistent experience across the entire fleet.
With a start date set for November 2025, installation at a rate of 14 aircraft per month, the jump to the A380 in February 2026, and the goal of completion by mid-2027, Emirates is embarking on an ambitious rollout that will make Starlink's free Wi-Fi a common feature on its 777s and A380s, with easy access , extended coverage, and features such as live TV being integrated in phases.
