The historic Microsoft saga is preparing an unprecedented move: Halo will be arriving on PlayStation consoles with a complete remake of its first campaign. Titled Halo: Campaign Evolved, the project reimagines the original adventure with modern technology and a focus on single-player and co-op experiences.
Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios have confirmed that the game will be released in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. In addition, its arrival on Game Pass in the Xbox and PC ecosystem has been secured, while on PlayStation it can now be added to the wish list. For players in Spain and the rest of Europe, it is the first opportunity to enjoy Master Chief on an officially supported Sony console.
Release and platforms

Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming in a simultaneous to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2026. The company notes that it will share more details in the coming months, with no concrete date yet; however, everything indicates that it aligns with the franchise's 25th anniversary. In Spain, it will be available for purchase at regional digital stores, and on Xbox and PC, it will be included in Game Pass since the first day.
Halo Studios has reiterated that the goal is to open the door to a wider audience without altering the game's identity. Therefore, in addition to a multiplatform release, it is guaranteed cross game and shared progression between console and PC, making it easy to play with friends regardless of platform.
A remake from scratch with Unreal Engine 5

Far from a simple remaster, the campaign has been rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 to modernize graphics, animations, and lighting. There will be new cinematics, level redesigns, and AI and physics improvements, all intended to maintain the "Halo feel" but with modern standards.
The team expands content with three prequel missions starring Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson, which contextualize the events of Combat Evolved. Iconic weapons from later installments are also introduced, such as the Energy Sword or the Battle Rifle, and more tactical options with vehicles, including the fully pilotable Wraith.
The “skulls” return and the possibility of remix missions to provide variety and challenge. Even traditionally controversial levels, like The Library, have been reworked with improved focus and pacing, in order to respect the memory of the original and avoid its pitfalls.
Game modes: campaign, co-op, and cross-play

The focus is on the campaign: There will be no competitive PvP in this release. Instead, co-op is gaining ground with online play for up to four players and cross-play support. On consoles, the local split-screen option for two players remains, a nod to the series' tradition.
In terms of gameplay, the “golden triangle” of shooting, grenades and melee remains, but with contemporary additions such as aimed with sights (ADS) on all weapons and sprinting adjusted to maintain the classic philosophy. It will also be possible hijack vehicles, and the Warthog will have four seats to encourage cooperative mischief.
What it means for PlayStation and Europe

This is the first Halo on a Sony console, a step that fits with the strategy of bringing Xbox franchises to more gamers. From Halo Studios it has been transmitted that this opening seeks to add community, and the community manager came to advance that the presence of Halo in PlayStation could extend beyond this premiere.
For the public in Spain and Europe, the news is especially relevant: PS5 gains a classic icon of the shooter with native support, while Xbox and PC maintain all the advantages of the ecosystem (including Game Pass). Cross-play and cross-progression will simplify playing with friends regardless of platform, something that has been in high demand in the region.
What remains to be confirmed

Technical sections such as modes of resolution and performance on each platform, specific functions of the PS5 controller or final PC requirements. The studio will also expand on its cloud-based release and Play Anywhere program options within the Microsoft environment.
With all that shown, Halo: Campaign Evolved aims for a faithful but modern reinterpretation: reimagined campaign, robust cooperative and a cross-platform rollout that will open the series to new players on PS5 without leaving behind the Xbox and PC base. If the final polish holds up, it could become the recommended way to revisit the origin of one of the most influential video game series.
