After a long time of waiting by the professional sector, Apple finally has his new Mac Pro. After consulting the needs of many sectors, the manufacturer has designed a computer capable of meeting the highest needs regardless of the sector you work in. Because yes, now more than ever, this new Mac Pro is exclusively designed for professionals.
Unlimited configuration possibilities
The new body of Mac Pro is wrapped in a stainless steel chassis that allows modularity y flexibility. Everything is accessible from either side of the tower, and to complete the aesthetic look, two stainless steel handles have been included for easy portability (reminiscent of the look of the original Mac Pro). But if what you want is total mobility, you can always attach the optional wheels that are sold separately.
Technical characteristics of the Mac Pro

But let's get to the really interesting stuff. This new Mac Pro features a specially designed motherboard to allow the connection of expansion modules over time. It is reminiscent of the way in which hard drives were connected in the first Mac Pro, with the difference that now we will have 8 PCIe slots to connect a large number of plugins.

But before starting with the extensions, let's start with the basic configuration, or rather, with the brain that gives life to the team. It will be an Intel processor that will give life to the Mac Pro, starting with an 8-core Xeon and being able to configure up to a 28-core Xeon. This processor will generate a consumption of 300W, an amount that will generate a lot of heat, which is why Apple has had to design a large heatsink that will be cooled by one of the three giant fans that ensure the equipment's cooling.

As for RAM memory, 12 slot DIMMs will allow you to connect a whopping amount of 1,5 terabytes of memory, so you will hardly run out of memory while rendering your project. Of course, if you choose processors with 8, 12 and 16 cores, you can only connect up to 1 TB of RAM.
The graphics are not lacking either, led by a Radeon Pro 580X with 8GB GDDR5. This graph comes in a new form factor designed by Apple (this means that in theory we will not be able to connect graphics from another manufacturer). If you prefer, you can also choose a Radeon Pro Vega II, with 32 GB HBM2 and up to 28,2 teraflops, something that you can double with the option of the Radeon Pro Vega II Duo (dual graphics). Each of these modules arrive in the new MPX format, which we can connect up to two units (with the help of the Infinity Fabric Link), in order to have up to a total of 4 GPUs (in the case of the Pro Vega II Duo) connected on Mac Pro that will offer graphics power never seen before.
What power supply is needed for all this potential to work properly? The answer is in an incredible 1280W power supply that of course we will have to take into account when paying the electricity bill.
And speaking of paying...
How much does the Mac Pro cost?
This question has a half answer, since Apple He has offered us only the base price of the equipment with the simplest configuration that we can choose in the configuration. This means that the team would have:
- 8-core Intel Xeon processor
- 32 GB of RAM
- Radeon Pro 580X graphics
- 256GB SSD
This setup will be priced at no less than $5.999, so you can get an idea that the higher configurations will raise the price quite a bit, since both the graphics and the memories seem quite scarce to us for a computer of these capacities. What will be the price of the maximum configuration of the Mac Pro? We hope to be able to clear up doubts soon.
