El new Mac Pro He didn't go to the party alone. Next to him appeared an imposing 32-inch monitor that drew attention for its colors, brightness, contrast, and absence of reflections. Are we facing the total monitor? That is more or less what Apple wanted to ask us, so we are going to tell you the best and the worst of this ProDisplay XDR.
infinite resolution

The 32 inches It stands out for offering a resolution of 6.016 x 3.384 pixels, that is, resolution 6K with a pixel density of 218 per inch in a 16:9 format.
extreme HDR

El ProDisplay XDR receives this name due to the technology of Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR), which is nothing more than a much improved HDR that reaches a new level thanks to 1.000 nits of brightness at full screen (1.600 nits punctual) and a contrast ratio of 1.000.000:1.
The perfect picture

With the help of the color palette P3, the Pro Display XDR is capable of extremely true-to-life colors with 10-bit color depth and excellent calibration. Furthermore, the technology behind the backlight system is responsible for illuminating the screen correctly, since 576 LEDs blue in color are responsible for illuminating the panel from behind without suffering from the excess light produced by the peripheral lighting of the white LEDs traditionally used.
This blue light is transformed into white light with a complex process in which a filter created for the occasion comes into play, and where a TCON controller chip which with the help of an algorithm analyzes and reproduces the image correctly and in sync with the many layers that make up the panel.
and without reflections

The monitor has an anti-reflective coating that is responsible for eliminating reflections but, as if that were not enough, there is the possibility of purchasing a version with a matte finish created with the help of nano-textured glass. This finish is responsible for reducing the reflection of light and brightness so that the image on the screen is not affected when we look at the monitor.
Needs refrigeration… active?

The back of the monitor is made up of the same machined pattern on an aluminum body that we can find in the Mac Pro. This distribution allows for an orderly and efficient air flow in order to ventilate the interior of the equipment, and it is that with such a level of brightness the temperatures that are reached inside will be high.

The manufacturer speaks of an intake of cold air and the expulsion of hot air, so it is possible that there is a fan inside the monitor. It could be that piece that we see on the left of the image, although we have not been able to confirm it.
limited…connectivity

As with other Apple monitors, connectivity options are quite limited on this Pro Display XDR. At least in a matter of options, since the screen has four USB-C ports (one Thunderbolt 3 and three USB-C) and no other type of connector. Taking into account the resolution that it handles, the incorporation of an HDMI may not make much sense, but the versatility and options that having more connections would offer would surely be appreciated on more than one occasion.
Price only suitable for a few

Another problem obviously comes with the price. Taking into account its professional profile, it was to be expected that this Pro Display XDR was not going to be especially cheap, and knowing that it is the perfect match for the Mac Pro, even less so. The result is a label $4.999 for the normal version, and $5.999 for the model with nanotexture matt glass protection.
A monitor without a stand

Than a $5.000 monitor does not include base to place it on a table is a strange detail to say the least. It is true that this type of professional monitors end up being placed on articulated arms and systems already present in the studios and offices of professionals, but not including a simple support seems incomprehensible to us.

The problem is that the thing does not end there, since if you are interested in the official manufacturer support (which is pivoting and allows a 90-degree turn to use the screen vertically), we will have to pay a whopping $999. If, on the contrary, you prefer to place it in a classic mount with VESA standard, you will need to purchase the universal adapter, which is priced at 199 Euros.
