Following the leak we saw a couple of days ago , DJI officially unveiled its new compact stabilizer, the Osmo Pocket, yesterday afternoon. The device impresses with its performance and compact design, as well as its modular capability, allowing users to connect additional accessories for enhanced functionality. This offering, clearly aimed at the hardcore consumer, could pose a significant challenge to GoPro , as it's an extremely attractive product with a target market that could very well encroach on the segment currently dominated by Nick Woodman's brand.
A very balanced product

That's no exaggeration. Besides eliminating all image vibration with its 3-axis stabilization system, the Osmo Pocket boasts a comprehensive set of features that make it suitable for all types of users. For one thing, it's incredibly small, allowing you to carry it in your pocket almost without noticing. To avoid any hassle, the product comes in a stylish box that also serves as a charging dock, with storage for two micro SD cards, four ND filters, and two smartphone connectors.
Its size makes it perfect for recording video with one hand, but the thing doesn't end there, since the software has been specifically prepared for that, being able to navigate between menus and all configuration options without removing your hand from the grip and using thumb only. All these options will be controlled from a small screen where we can also preview and review our recordings. Although if you prefer you can also connect the Osmo Pocket to the phone and review all the content wirelessly (requires the wireless adapter that is sold separately).
recording modes
In the same way that it happens with its drones, DJI has prepared a complete recording system that will allow us to record in different ways. For example, we can modify the way in which the stabilizer works to maintain focus at different points, track objects and people, or capture panoramas automatically. It is also capable of amazing moving timelapses or night captures with the Nightshot effect.
All these modes will open up an extensive creative field to users, who will also be able to define advanced parameters when recording, or edit all the shots in software specially designed for mobile phones (DJI Mimo).
DJI Osmo Pocket Features
The small DJI stabilizer arrives to continue increasing the brand's family of portable stabilizers, but this time it dares with a super compact design that also impresses due to the technical characteristics it hides inside. These are:
- 1/2,3-inch f/2.0 sensor with 80 degrees of view and 1,55 nanometer pixel size
- 12 megapixels
- 4K video at 60 images per second
- Battery with a minimum duration of 140 minutes
