Imagine adding 1TB of SSD storage, nine extra ports and a battery that would give your MacBook Pro an extra eight hours of autonomy in a more or less simple and discreet way. Well, that's what Linedock proposes. And regardless of how accurate it may be, it puts the question back on the table to what extent do we need such thin laptops.

Linedock is an attractive solution and, in turn, unnecessary for most in my opinion. But before continuing to give an opinion, it is good that you know what this complement offers for Apple laptops.
Available for now for the 13-inch MacBook Pro models and with a view to launching models for the 15 and 16-inch ones, this is nothing more than a kind of base or Dock that you can always carry with your Apple laptop. And now, why would you want to carry something similar to another laptop due to dimensions and weight?
Linedock offers some extras to complete and improve the options of the MacBook Pro. For starters, it includes new extra connections, including 3 USB C ports, 3 USB A 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, HDMI output, and mini Display Port output. Then it includes a battery that would give an extra up to 8 hours of autonomy. And finally, the possibility of opting for variants that add 256 GB or 1 TB SSD storage units.
Made of brushed aluminum, it maintains an aesthetic similar to that of Apple equipment, something practically traditional among any manufacturer that designs accessories for the brand. So it cannot be denied that it is attractive. It's not one of those add-ons that you want to take from one place to another, but in certain scenarios or use cases it does add value.
Although you may think the same and see it more as a Dock for home, the problem is that then the extra battery does not add as much value as we will not have problems accessing a power plug at all times.
Linedock's price? Well, it depends on whether or not it integrates an SSD unit, but it starts at $349 and goes up to $699.
It is really necessary for Apple to slim down its equipment so much
Less accessories like Linedock and more asking that Apple stop slimming down its equipment so much. That would be, possibly, what many would say or have already told you. It is true, even increasing the thickness by a few millimeters would not be a problem, nor would it affect the user experience due to weight or dimensions.
Even so, Apple is not going to do it, nor would that be synonymous with greater connections. What's more, the teams have been gaining thickness this year to improve aspects such as autonomy. Something that, for example, has been seen in the new iPhone 11.
Therefore, it is true that Linedock's proposal is interesting, but also that carrying "almost" another MacBook Pro is not at all flashy. But hey, if you want those extras and it's not a problem for you, this accessory could be a good solution if you have a 13-inch model. And if it's a 15-inch or the recent 16-inch MacBook Pro, you'll just have to be a little patient until they launch their respective versions.
