Given that microSD memory cards are an almost indispensable accessory for many mobile phones, it's expected that manufacturers like Micron and SanDisk would wait until MWC to unveil their next product. And that's exactly what happened with their new 1TB microSD cards.
The world's first microSD card with 1TB of memory
Ideal for storing and recording 4K content, Micron 's new c200 boasts a massive 1TB of internal storage in its maximum configuration, made possible by a 96-layer 3D quad-level liquid crystal (QLC) manufacturing process. This near-limitless capacity will be a boon for those who like to accumulate footage from their video cameras, allowing them to store vast amounts of data to unprecedented levels.
The SanDisk one is practically the same, although its performance is slightly superior, as it reaches transfer rates of 160MB/s for reading compared to Micron's 100MB/s, while in the reads it is the opposite, being 90MB/s for SanDisk and 95MB/s for Micron.
Of course, try not to lose it and have a backup copy of the most sensitive data, since its loss could cause you big problems considering the volume of information it is capable of handling. Also, if you lose it (its tiny size helps with this), you should take into account that it will also hurt your pocket, since its exclusive price is not usually paid every day.
How much does a 1TB microSD card cost?
In the case of SanDisk, which has also introduced a card with similar features, the manufacturer has priced its tiny 1TB card at a whopping $449,99 , a price that could buy, for example, three 6TB Seagate hard drives. Of course, we're talking about external 3,5-inch drives, something you obviously can't install inside your phone.
