What we expect from MWC 2019

This year's MWC 2019 will have two clear protagonists due to their innovative approach: 5G connectivity and foldable phones . It's very likely that several manufacturers will announce their 5G phones at the show, whether they're enhanced or special versions of existing models or entirely new devices. In any case, it will be a bandwagon that everyone will jump on, even though it will have little impact on us, the users, at this point.

Regarding foldable phones, we've already seen Samsung's Galaxy Fold , but that's just the beginning. Xiaomi is also expected to unveil its device in Barcelona (it might be called the Dual Flex , by the way), along with the international version of the Mi 9 , and Huawei is expected to do the same at its press conference. In fact, regarding Huawei, it's not just expected; they've practically confirmed it themselves with an image posted on their official Twitter account.

Even ZTE's Nubia sub-brand will be in Barcelona showcasing its capabilities as a foldable phone manufacturer, or at least that's what can be understood after seeing its advertisement with the slogan "Flex your life" - crystal clear , indeed.

Other manufacturers like Sony and HMD seem to be following a more traditional approach and will simply announce the new generations of their phones (which is no small feat). The Japanese company should unveil the successor to the Xperia XZ3 —rumors suggest it will abandon the XZ naming convention, but for now, these are just rumors—as well as, we hope, the rest of its new mid-range lineup.
