Nokia 9 PureView, my trypophobia and I have a problem with you

La trypophobia It is the fear or revulsion felt when looking at a pattern of geometric figures close together, especially if these are small holes. Quite possibly when HMD thought of throwing Nokia 9 PureView He did not consider this phobia or all of us who unfortunately suffer from it. Today I wanted to check if the phone and its infinite rear holes really cause me as much repulsion live as I thought. And I do not deny that the meeting... has been tense.

Nokia 9 PureView and its uncomfortable five rear cameras

HMD presented this Sunday its new Nokia 9 PureView. This phone had been rumored for months and although at first few of us believed in its crazy design, it has finally been confirmed that the phone mounts, nothing more and nothing less than, five cameras on its back - which is said soon. I must confess that when I first saw it in pictures I felt somewhat uncomfortable, but still, without seeing it in person, I wanted to continue giving the smartphone a vote of confidence... until now.

It could be considered that I suffer from certain trypophobia, although the feeling that tiny patterns on a surface generate in me is always one of anxiety, never scary, and it is much more pronounced when they show up on the skin (in this specific case it is called dermatopathophobia). If I come across an "uncomfortable" image, I feel tingling and itching all over my body (especially my face), I get goosebumps, it causes me a lot of anguish and I even feel nauseated.

With such a history, knowing that the Nokia 9 PureView would appear at the fair It generated me between rejection and curiosity. I had already seen, as I say, the filtered images and they gave me a certain "repelús", but I wanted to see if that feeling also extended to a live contact -with that it's a phone, maybe I could trick my mind.

Nothing is further from reality. It is true that looking at the Nokia PureView 9 it doesn't make me nauseous nor does it cause me anxiety (there are very few holes) but having it in my hand has given me goosebumps due to that certain discomfort that its image arouses in me -its grip, as we are, is comfortable, and the handling seems fluid , except in the camera interface, though hopefully it's because the units shown are pre-production. At the time of writing these lines and reviewing the photos, without going any further, I am remembering all those holes (7 in total) arranged in the rear chassis and no, I am not entirely comfortable. Something happens.

Obviously not everyone can be satisfied and given that according to some studies, the percentage of men and women who suffer from it is relatively little (11% and 18%, respectively), possibly HMD has not considered it too relevant to not bet on this very particular design. In fact trypophobia even appears as such in the DSM or the ICD (psychology diagnostic criteria manuals), being included directly within simple phobias (along with many other well-known ones).

It is believed that the origin of trypophobia could be evolutionary, since the patterns would cause certain people to instinctive rejection related to the evocation of certain animal traits that our ancestors had to avoid if they wanted to survive.

A phone causing me an instinctive rejection of survival... I never thought I would write something like this.
