OneXPlayer has released a new model of its popular X1, now offering a slightly more compact size (though it still boasts an impressive screen). This ultraportable Windows console features detachable controllers and a magnetic keyboard that transforms the device into a laptop.
More than just a powerful Steam Deck
The Steam Deck-style console market is starting to get saturated, but OneXPlayer has the ideas to keep innovating. Their latest release is the X1 Mini, a device with an AMD 8840U processor that will deliver the best possible portable performance—a processor that, interestingly, replaces the Intel Core Ultra found in the larger X1.
This version comes with an 8,8-inch screen with a 144Hz refresh rate , down from the massive 10,95 inches of its sibling, the X1. Its Surface-style magnetic keyboard is a standout feature, with prominent WASD keys, clearly indicating its intention to become a portable gaming station.

The X1 Mini is a special machine, primarily because of its capabilities. For one, it offers the ability to freely swap the SSD , allowing you to remove the 1 TB module and use one of up to 4 TB. The Oculink port allows you to connect eGPU graphics cards, so you can significantly increase the graphics power to play demanding games without any issues.
It also includes several USB4 ports , a fingerprint reader and camera for Windows Hello login, and a large 65 Wh battery for long battery life.
A Switch with Windows
The most striking thing about this console is that it has controls that can be attached to the sides of the screen as if it were a Nintendo Switch. This allows you to use the console as a regular laptop, and also convert the screen into a laptop with the magnetic keyboard, so that we can work or play FPS with a keyboard and mouse.

At the moment the brand has not commented on the matter, as it has launched a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGogo to raise funds for the production.
