Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2bringing one of the most influential open-world RPGs of the last generation to an audience that until now had not had access to a main installment of the saga on a machine from the Japanese company.
This commemorative edition is launching on the eShop in digital format and will also arrive in European stores in a rather unique physical version: it's sold in a box, but the contents include a download code (CIAB format, code on box) instead of a traditional cartridge. With this, Bethesda completes the jump to the Nintendo console with the most content-rich version the game has ever had.
A full version designed for Switch 2

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition arrives on Switch 2 as the most complete edition published to dateIt includes the complete base game and all six official additional content packs that were released during the title's original lifecycle on PC and consoles:

The Nintendo console edition includes more than 150 members of the Creation ClubThese include new weapons, new missions, cosmetic add-ons, building packs, additional power armor, and adjustments designed to enrich settlement management.
The idea is that both those arriving in the Commonwealth for the first time and veterans repeating the adventure have it readily available. enough material to exceed 100 hours of gameplay between the main storyline, large expansions like Far Harbor or Nuka-World, and all the small activities and side quests scattered across the map.
This Anniversary Edition also integrates features introduced with the new generation versions, such as Improvements in overall stability and shorter loading times, adapted to the Switch 2 hardware so that switching between indoors, outdoors and fast travel is less tedious than in the original releases.
Graphics modes, 30/40/60 fps and 120 Hz screen

The Nintendo Switch 2 adaptation comes with a unique feature that brings it closer to what is already seen on other modern platforms: a performance selector with three refresh rate targetsPlayers can choose between 30, 40, or 60 frames per second in both handheld mode and when the console is connected to the TV.
The so-called Quality mode sets the game to 30 fpsprioritizing resolution and visual detail, it targets 1440p on desktops, while on laptops it drops to 1080p, with higher graphics settings and a cleaner image. This option is designed for those who prioritize sharpness and rich effects over smoothness.
At the opposite end is Performance mode, which aims to reach 60 fps By reducing settings and applying dynamic resolution—approximately 1080p—to maintain a more stable frame rate, the result is similar to what we've seen on consoles like the PS4, but taking advantage of the capabilities of Nintendo's new machine to offer a more responsive experience in combat.
In between is Balanced mode, probably the most interesting to play on the Switch 2's own screen. In this mode, Fallout 4 runs at 40 fps with a graphics profile close to Quality and a resolution around 1080p. It's a middle ground that sacrifices slightly less image quality than the 60fps mode, but feels considerably smoother than the traditional 30fps.
The choice of 40fps mode is not accidental: the integrated screen of the Nintendo Switch 2 It is compatible with VRR (variable refresh rate) and works up to 120 HzThis allows the Balanced mode to produce a particularly smooth image without any noticeable stuttering, taking advantage of synchronization and refresh rates to reduce screen tearing. In TV mode, those with a panel that supports 120Hz and VRR can also benefit from these advantages.
