Ninja Gaiden RageBound

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is preparing to land on the market with a proposal that combines the 2D action and challenging spirit of the classic saga. Fans of ninja adventures can now get a sneak peek thanks to the demo that will be available during the Steam Next Fest, between June 9 and 16. This way, players will be able to experience firsthand what it will be like to embody the new protagonists and face the demonic threat that stalks the world.

The new title, developed by The GameKitchen (responsible for Blasphemous) and edited by Dotemu, pays tribute to the origins of the franchise and features a story that runs parallel to the plot of the original Ninja Gaiden for NES. As Ryu Hayabusa embarks on his journey of revenge, the young ninja Kenji Mozu must defend the world after the veil separating the human realm from the demonic realm has been torn. Along the way, he will join forces with Kumori, a rival ninja Black Spider Clan, with which you will combine forces to face enemies together and overcome insurmountable obstacles alone.

A demo packed with action and possibilities

Ninja Gaiden RageBound

The playable demo of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound invites users to explore three independent levels, each with unique mechanics and challenges. In the first stage, players must protect the Hayabusa clan's home from a demonic invasion, fighting their way through burning buildings and facing a fearsome winged boss. The second stage allows players to alternate between Kenji and Kumori, requiring master your signature skills and overcome platforming sections and collaborative combat. In the final stage, the action moves to the catacombs of Odawara Castle, with intense clashes and the promise of a new enemy for the final version.

The demo too rewards skill and replayability, including optional challenges and secret collector areas. Those who complete the demo will be able to unlock a High-difficulty version of the first level, providing an opportunity to test their skills before the world premiere.

Artistic appearance and revamped classic mechanics

One of the most notable aspects is the careful pixel art, which combines retro aesthetics with detailed animations and vibrant settings. The art direction and original soundtrack feature the collaboration of legendary composers from the NES trilogy, in addition to the contribution of Sergio de Prado (Blasphemous). In terms of gameplay, Ragebound incorporates traditional mechanics of the saga such as jumping over enemies, precise dodging and special attacks like the "Hypercharge", capable of annihilating rivals in a single hit.

Kenji and Kumori's abilities are complementary and add variety to the approach. Kenji excels in close combat, while Kumori can access demonic plane to traverse inaccessible areas and solve platforming puzzles under time pressure. The ability to switch between the two, as well as complete secondary challenges—such as completing stages without taking damage or collecting specific items—adds depth and encourages replayability to improve scores.
