One of the latest Microsoft updates has blocked the use of peripherals that do not have the official license from the manufacturer. This is a measure that has disrupted the plans of a lot of peripheral manufacturers that did not pass the appropriate certification. The PlayStation does not have any of that at the moment, but what they have decided to activate is the blocking of a very specific peripheral: the Cronus Zen.
The cheaters trick
Warzone may have kicked out a lot of cheaters who use illegal software to achieve auto-targeting, wall vision, and more, but one thing that can't be avoided is the use of custom controllers with advanced features. It is the case of Cronus Zen, a device that allows you to use any type of controller on PS5 and Xbox Series and that is capable of receiving specific programming to improve aspects of the control.

For example, you can send a configuration so thate cancel all reverse movements when shooting in Call of Duty, which allows for better aiming and precision in games. The game itself does not detect this as illegal software, as it interprets it as the player having a lot of skill in aiming.
As you can imagine, this causes the players who use the device to have a huge advantage over the rest of the players, which distorts the games and makes everything more boring.
PS5 blocks Cronus Zen
Well, the people at PlayStation have refused to accept this control method, and with their last update has blocked the use of this device, aborting the connection and returning the controller not connected message. From Cronus they have confirmed that this is indeed happening with the version 24.01-08.60.00 of the PS5 system, and for now the only thing they encourage you to do is reject the update, since it is optional for the moment.
They have confirmed that for now they do not have an idea of when they will be able to fix it (they do not even guarantee that they will be able to do so), so it is very possible that in the coming months the accessory will be completely unusable by the PS5 system.
An exaggerated measure?
Prohibiting the use of an accessory may seem very aggressive, but if we take into account the type of use that the Cronus Zen generated, it is easy to think that its ban does nothing more than protect the health of the community.
It remains to be seen if the Xbox update that will introduce the “Designed for Xbox” seal requirement will also block the Cronus Zen, something that has a good chance of happening looking at the background of the situation.
