A DOOM mod introduces the Dark Ages shield-saw

DOOM Saw Shield Mod

The announcement of DOOM The Dark Ages He left us with a Slayer with a quite imposing new appearance and the introduction of a very peculiar new element: a shield. But as expected, that shield hid a fairly important power of destruction, since this new element would serve, in addition to protecting us, to carry out melee attacks and destructive launches. But what if we could have that accessory in the original DOOM?

A record mod

That's what the modder proposed Skull, which only a few hours later since DOOM The Dark Ages was presented, published a clip on its Twitter account to demonstrate that had integrated the newly introduced shield into the original version of DOOM. And the result is quite spectacular, since this mod is responsible for replacing the famous chainsaw with the new shield, which also has sharp teeth with which to cut.

But the most interesting thing is that This new weapon is also throwing, since, thanks to some parameters, if we play in ZDoom we can configure a key as altfire for this alternate shot to launch the shield.

The smart shield

Since DOOM did not have the option to take cover from enemies, the solution proposed by Craneo is quite ingenious. When the shield is used in defense mode, the game activates God mode automatically (you can see in the video how the marine's eyes turn yellow), so that the enemy's attacks do not cause any damage, simulating that the shield is doing its job. Bright.

Something more complex is the function of launching it, an action that will only be available in ZDoom if we map a key in the function altfire.

How to download this mod

The Craneo mod can be downloaded directly from the links to Google Drive that you have shared in your profile, since that will be where we can get the corresponding .wad to apply the changes. As if that were not enough, the modder has also created a mod with the new bone crusher weapon that also debuts in The Dark Ages, so fun is more than guaranteed.

These .wads are compatible with both DOOM and DOOM 2, so you just have to install them to give that medieval touch that you were missing in hell.
