What would you do if you suddenly discovered the game cartridge from Nintendo that was never released? That is precisely what has happened to a youtuber, who has obtained a copy of a title from the Japanese house that never saw the light of day... and of course he has played it and recorded it on video so that we can all see it. That's how it is UWC.
UWC: a fighting game for NES with more than 30 years
It is rare to find a title with these characteristics, but it seems that the planets have aligned for someone to have found a gamer relic. We refer to a copy of the game UWC, a fighting title that you will surely not know even if you consider yourself a big fan of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) because… it never saw the light of day!
Apparently UWC (acronym for Universal Wrestling Corporation) was developed by the now-defunct Japanese studio SETA Corporation in 1989. The title, type wrestling, has characters that represent professional wrestlers in the world at that time, such as Richard Morgan (Ric Flair), the Road Warriors couple or Steve Borden, better known as Sting, and offers a level of play quite acceptable to never have seen the light, as explained by its now owner, the youtuber Stephan Reese.
Stephan, better known as Arch 1981, managed to get hold of a copy after buying it from a former Nintendo employee to whom, he explains, they gave him the game to try because he was quite fond of wrestling. From then until now, the cartridge has been practically forgotten in some corner until the youtuber has acquired it.
In the video below you can see how he explains precisely what we have just told you and then shows us how is the game interface and thus get an idea of its dynamics -although you can already imagine that this is quite simple and consists of the selection of two characters to face with different levels of difficulty.
The best thing about this whole story, in addition to finding out about the existence of such a curious title, is that Stephan has promised not to leave it forgotten again. Therefore, he has confirmed that he will be in charge of going up and share game rom on the internet, so that anyone who is interested can download and play it.
UWC has just been resurrected. Who was going to tell SETA.
