Sony has finally enabled cross-platform play in Rocket League . Just like they did with Fortnite , PlayStation 4 players will finally be able to join the group of Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC players who could already play against each other thanks to this feature—something Sony isn't at all happy about.
All against all in Rocket League

The news comes directly from Sony, who announced on their official blog that the popular rocket soccer game will now allow players to find matches with others on different platforms. For now, it will only allow random matches with players worldwide, and it won't be until the next update that players can join groups with friends (unless they play a private match, which can be selected from the menu). In other words, if you have friends with other consoles, you can now find a way to play Rocket League with them online (if you weren't already playing Fortnite), a game we highly recommend for its fun and gameplay.

The multiplatform game that Sony likes so little
Rocket League's inclusion in the PlayStation Cross-Play beta program is another small step in a transition that Sony refuses to accept. Cross-platform play is the best news the gaming world could receive, as it eliminates rivalry and benefits all platforms. Sony, a specialist in exclusive games, hasn't given in so easily, and for now only allows cross-platform play between Fortnite and Rocket League , so system standardization is still a long way off. And in a way, it's understandable. Why would Sony want to make things easier for other manufacturers when they hold the largest market share with PlayStation 4?
It's a pretty selfish decision, but there's no doubt that it's looking out for the company itself, which to this day remains number one on consoles thanks to its incredible community. Luckily, it seems that little by little the company is opening its mind, and there are already two games that offer this function. It will have to start with something.
