Yes, your home bathroom can also be a place to implement technology and not only that: it is even capable of completely changing its environment. Several months ago I decided to incorporate some smart equipment to the main bathroom of my bedroom, all of them, of course, connected, so that they have been perfectly integrated into the home automation dynamics of my house. Thanks to this, I now control certain crucial aspects of the bathroom that have helped me make it a comfortable area. even more comfortable So today I'm going to tell you what they were in case they can serve as inspiration for yours. Take note.
The DeLongui Tasciugo AriaDry dehumidifier
Have a bath en suite It looks great in magazines, but it has some implications to consider regarding humidity, especially if, as in my case, you don't have a dividing door separating the rest area from the shower area. A dehumidifier was therefore key to achieving a more comfortable (and healthy, of course) environment, but in my case I also have an important peculiarity in this room: the ceilings are almost 4 meters high, so not just any model will do.
After a thorough search in which I was looking for a model that great capacity and that also had WiFi connectivity, I found the Tasciugo AriaDry Multi from DeLongui. This unit is quite large (60 cm high by 38,3 cm wide and 25,7 cm thick), so I only recommend it if you are going to use it in large rooms, as is my case.
With a capacity to remove up to 20 liters of excess moisture Within 24 hours, this dehumidifier works incredibly well. It has a 4-stage filtration system that captures contaminants (such as bacteria or large dust particles) and is even capable of reducing odors. Its noise, obviously, is noticeable, I'm not going to lie to you, but its 47 db is not bad either - I have heard even much smaller units that were much more annoying.
Thanks to its wheels (which rotate 360º) and the side handles I can move it from one room to another with ease, so that in addition to the bathroom, I have been able to use it in other rooms at my whim. The water tank is easily removed for emptying and it comes with a clothes drying mode that, although not miraculous, does help clothes dry faster.
This DeLongui comes, as I said, with WiFi connectivity, allowing the installation of a dedicated app on the mobile and being compatible with AlexaI admit that I never use the app, but I do use the voice control function, and it's really convenient to be able to tell the assistant on my Echo speakers to turn the dehumidifier on or off according to my needs. The device also has, of course, a touch panel on the top where I can also control its functions.
Your biggest problem? The high priceThe Italian firm is not exactly one of the cheapest in the sector and with this model it confirms this. And not everyone is willing to spend the 539 euros that it costs. However, if you do, you will find a highly efficient device, discreet in design, easy to use and, of course, connected.
The Create Warm Tower Pro electric towel rack
As you can imagine, in an area like my bathroom, having an electric towel rack became not a whim but a necessity. necesidad. The towels never dried properly in winter and I ended up having to wash them even more frequently. That's why I opted for the electric model from Create, which also had two key features: WiFi connectivity and a very attractive price.
Regarding the first, the device provides connection so that, through an app that you install on your mobile, you can control it to your liking - it also comes with a small remote control for those who prefer a more traditional method. The platform not only allows you to turn the towel rack on or off remotely; you can also set schedules (up to 24 hours) so that it works only at the time you choose. It is also support Alexa, so I have a command set up that when activated by voice ("Alexa, dry the towels") turns on the towel rack for two and a half hours, enough to have my towels dry again and free of moisture and odors.
This Create also offers two power levels: 500W on its aluminium bars for towels, and then 1.500W as a ceramic heater. In my case, I hardly use the second one - in my room, being so big, I don't use it much - but it is still an interesting addition if you want that extra heat (its hot air is adjustable up to 40ºC).
As to its control Panel The manual, LCD screen, is not difficult to use, incorporating the typical on/off buttons, temperature control and timer. I would only find one drawback: it is so sensitive to touch, that I have found moments in which the touch of the towel has turned on the heater unintentionally - and this one cannot have anything covering it, mind you, keep that in mind. This would be the only drawback I have found to Create's proposal, apart from the shelf with 3 bars which is optionally included. This is quite easy to unhook if it is placed at a height other than the one chosen by the manufacturer - in my opinion, quite low - so I have found myself on more than one occasion in the situation where when I picked up the towel, I brought it with me. I think it is more practical to use hooks or, failing that, to use the bar at specific times to dry something specific but which does not involve continuous or daily handling.
Despite these two minor drawbacks, the price makes up for the purchase (from 139,95 euros) and what you get with it: a powerful towel rail - there is only one superior model in the catalogue, the Warm Towel Advance - with a nice and simple design, and whose WiFi connectivity provides a differential plus within its segment. It is available in pepper salad, by the way: white (the one I have), off-white and black - the prettiest of all and I say this with knowledge of the facts because, after trying this equipment, I convinced my parents to buy it for their bathroom too.
Connected LED strips + WiFi switch
LED strips are the latest element that has transformed my bathroom, without a doubt. You already know that around here we are quite fans of the smart lighting So when I was presented with the opportunity to place a connected LED strip on the back of the mirrors, I didn't think twice.
By placing them in the back we get a fairly modern and striking rear lighting that not only illuminates but also decorates, adding a plus to the area. There are many strips of this type and at many prices, but the interesting thing is to use ones that have WiFi support. If none of them suits you, the other equally valid option that also works for you is to buy some "normal" ones and together with them a WiFi smart switch such as, for example, the Shelly 1 Mini Gen 3 (very cheap), with a fairly compact size so that it doesn't take up too much space.
What I get with it, once again, is voice control (it is compatible with both Google Assistant and Alexa, which is the assistant I use) that lets me turn the lights on and off as I like. Not only that. With an LED strip like this you can also create different atmospheres, as needed, playing with the warmth or coldness of the white light or even with different colors (make sure in this case that they are RGB).
And you, do you dare with any of these smart devices to make a glow up to your bathroom?
