We tested the Xiaomi Mi Smart Standing Fan 1C , a smart fan that you can connect to your home Wi-Fi network and control remotely, either from your phone or via Alexa or Google Assistant. That might be its greatest strength, along with its attractive price and design. So, here's our experience.

Minimalist and functional design
One of the most striking features of most Xiaomi connected devices is undoubtedly their design. The brand, along with the other manufacturers it collaborates with on each of these projects, has always stood out for offering products with a minimalist and functional aesthetic.
This smart fan was not going to be less and compared to other options on the market that is one of its main virtues. Because regardless of the decoration of each house, it turns out to be a product that fits quite well.
The Mi Fan 1C is made of metal and plastic , all in white. The only elements that add a touch of color are the LEDs on the control panel. These are also white, except for the power button, which can alternate between blue and orange to indicate things like whether it's connected to Wi-Fi or not. The control panel itself is quite well integrated into the fan.
With two sections, the fan can reach two different heights . For some, even with the second section attached, it might still be quite short, but thanks to its base and inherent stability, it's very easy to place it on a chair and thus increase the height. Furthermore, the fan can also be tilted up or down to better direct the airflow.
As a criticism of the design section, the only thing we can blame is that they have not considered the possibility that the cable went inside the tubes and came out through the base. Thus, on an aesthetic level it would be even more attractive, but it is not that it is a big problem.
Connectivity and functionality
Moving on to the connectivity and options it offers, whether physically with the integrated buttons or through the Mi Home app or with Alexa and Google Assistant, the Xiaomi fan is one of the most complete models we've tested. And its price is undoubtedly one of its biggest selling points.
Through the physical keypad you can control the following aspects:
- On and off
- Fan speed (three levels)
- Oscillation
- Timer (three levels)
When you access and control the fan through the Mi Home app, the options increase . For example, you gain more options for setting automatic shut-off after a certain time, adjusting parameters that affect the fan's LED indicators (ideal for turning them off if you're using it while you sleep), setting a notification sound when a setting is changed, or locking it to prevent children from controlling it.
However, the most interesting feature is being able to use it with voice commands. In our case, with Alexa. To do this, once you've set it up with the Mi Home app on your mobile phone, all you have to do is install the Xiaomi Home app ( you can download it here ). Once you've done that and granted access, the app will search for new devices and find the fan. From that moment on, it will be accessible for voice control.
The only thing you have to know is that from Alexa you don't have as much control as with Mi Home. That is, you can turn it on and off, you can also vary settings such as the speed of the fan, but little else.
The positive part is that you can integrate it with other routines or automations that you have and that will give you a lot of play. For example, so that it activates according to the temperature of the room, a time that you specify, etc. As always, the issue of routines and how they are used depends on each one's own imagination.
Quiet and with good refresh capacity
Xiaomi's smart fan is undoubtedly one of the best purchases you can make if you're feeling the heat and can't or don't want to install air conditioning. Plus, its portable design, allowing you to take it wherever you need it, offers even more advantages.
This model in question also adds that extra Wi-Fi connectivity that gives it a lot of value. Being able to control it through the mobile allows you to change aspects such as the speed of rotation, the oscillation or the automatic shutdown without having to get up from the sofa, chair or the camera itself.
In addition, using it also via voice commands is very interesting if you have gradually been automating your home to be controlled via Alexa (also through Google Assistant after adding it to Google Home).
So, considering its price is around 65 euros , depending on any deals you might find, the Mi Fan 1C is a highly recommended device that we don't think you'll regret buying, making it a great way to cope with these hot months.
