A year has passed since Huawei's Mate 30 Pro was presented, so it's time for the brand to renew its range to continue seeking mobile photographic excellence. Therefore, today we have with us the Mate40 Pro, so we are going to tell you the first impressions of this device.
First impressions on video
Some cameras that attract attention
These first impressions have a series of limitations, since the manufacturer at the moment only lets us talk about the superficial aspects of the phone and not its performance, but we have a lot to tell you, since that rear ring is impossible to ignore.
As you will surely remember, the Mate 30 Pro boasted of offering a circumference on its rear back to place its cameras, and on this occasion the manufacturer has repeated part of the formula to increase the dimensions of the encapsulation and offer a silhouette in ring shape.
It's a pleasantly surprising design, and one that we'd like to highlight, especially now that all phones have the same square or rectangle on one side of the terminal. We like seeing different designs, and we love this proposal from Huawei. So good for them.

In this peculiar format we will find a telescopic camera 5x magnification, one lens ultra wide angle of quite a few megapixels (they have not confirmed how many), a Cine Camera of the second generation, which is nothing more than a 12-megapixel sensor with a 3:2 format that is designed exclusively for recording video (as the Mate 30 Pro already did), and a fourth low-resolution camera used for the depth calculations.

This video camera will be able to record in 4K with HDR effects thanks to XD Fusion technology, in addition to enjoying stabilization and tracking system to continuously record a subject or object.
In the front cameras, the most striking point is the possibility of switch automatically to wide angle mode, since the system will be in charge of recognizing if we are taking a simple selfie or if, on the contrary, we are taking a group photo, at which point we will need more angle to complete the group scene.
All screen

Aesthetically, in addition to the touch of the camera ring, the leading role falls on the screen, since thanks to its panel 6,76 inch OLED and some curved bevels with a curvature angle of 88 degrees, the impression we have is that the front is practically all screen. Visually it is a joy, but at the level of use something tells us that it is going to cause us problems. We will see what conclusions we draw as we use it.

This screen is a display of technology, since it has a DCI-P3 color profile, HDR support and a spectacular resolution of 2.772 x 1.344 pixels. The icing on the cake is provided by the 90 Hz screen refresh, a speed that, although it is spectacular, is not the highest that we find today in the market.

This big screen sensation is also achieved thanks to the elimination of the notch that we had in the previous generation, but do not think that technology has been lost in this step. Actually, Huawei has managed to squeeze the facial recognition system, and although some sensors have been removed, unlocking by depth and face reading is still available as a biometric security method, in addition to the fingerprint reader integrated into the screen.
This sensor reinforces its presence with a new functionality for gestures included in the software, and it is that the Mate 40 Pro is capable of recognizing the palm of the hand to scroll vertically, horizontally and take screenshots. It is something that does not finish convincing us, since we do not see it as a vital utility and history (of Samsung) tells us that it usually happens without pain or glory. We'll see.
Gross power

The brand debuts with the Mate 40 Pro the new Kirin 9000, a brain that shares many things with the Kirin 990, but which is now made with 5nm technology and includes 5G connectivity. According to official figures, it offers a 30% and 50% increase in CPU and GPU respectively compared to the Kirin 990, and at the charging level, it is 60% faster when we use a cable and 85% faster in wireless charging.
Huawei Software
As expected, this Mate 40 Pro arrives with the latest version of EMUI, EMUI 11, which is based on Android 11 to offer a version of the operating system free of Google software. The US ban is still on, so again, we have a new Huawei device with no Google apps, and you know what that entails.
Even so, the brand continues to strengthen its application store, and they already have a large number of applications that meet a large part of the needs of users, although we continue to have the absence of others of vital importance.
power with elegance

As you can see, we are facing yet another exercise in design and power by Huawei, which offers everything that the brand can give today technically speaking, and which continues to maintain that upward line in terms of ship terminals. badge refers. Will it be worth it? We'll have to tell you that another day.
