The announcement of the new yellow iPhone 14 has given us the perfect excuse to sit down and review absolutely every color the iPhone has ever been available in. If you want a color-themed look back at the history of Apple's phone, you're definitely in the right place. Get comfortable.
Colors of all generations of iPhones
These are all the iPhone models released (which are not few) and the colors available in each generation and/or version announced by Apple.
iPhone

The first iPhone was released in only a few markets, but that didn't stop it from becoming known in every corner of the world. We'll hardly forget its distinctive and unique color combination of gray (most of the body) and black (bottom band). The front remained black.

iPhone 3G and 3Gs

The next generation of iPhone, the one that arrived in Spain, opted for a solid color scheme. The black and gray combination was replaced by two colors : white or black on the entire back. In both cases, the front remained black.
- Black
- Blanco
iPhone 4 and 4s

The iPhone 4 brought a significant design overhaul, with a much more squared-off style that abandoned the previous curves and featured glass on both the front and back. This generation returned to two color options , black and white, with the difference that now the front was also color-matched.
The 4s edition repeated the formula without changing anything on an aesthetic level (except for the addition of one more antenna, whose line can be seen on the edge, staying above the sound buttons).
- Black
- Blanco
iPhone 5

The iPhone adopted a more attractive and sophisticated style starting with its fifth generation. The iPhone 5 also focused on two colors , black or white, but began using two finishes on its back chassis: matte anodized aluminum for the central area and distinctive high-gloss top and bottom stripes, creating a striking and more professional color effect than in previous editions. The front panels matched the back, also featuring a glossy finish.
- Black (matt black body and glossy black stripes)
- White (matt gray body and glossy white stripes)
iPhone 5s

For the first time, we had two different iPhone models on the same stage. On one hand, the iPhone 5c, which we'll discuss a few lines below, and on the other, the iPhone 5s, which remained true to the style of its predecessor but slightly changed the color combinations and added a new color to the lineup (gold). This resulted in a portfolio of three colors.
- Space Gray (matte gray body and black stripes)
- Silver (matt light gray body and white stripes)
- Gold (matt gold body and white stripes)
iPhone 5c

Apple decided for the first time to launch a "cheap iPhone". It was something that had been rumored for a very long time and finally saw the light in September 2013 with its first proper splash of color: the iPhone 5c went on sale in 5 different colors , with a hardened polycarbonate (plastic) back and very rounded corners that gave it a much more casual look.
- Blue
- Green
- Yellow
- Pink
- Blanco
iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

Announced in September 2014, these phones underwent another significant design overhaul, abandoning the prominent stripes (now more subtle, with white lines serving as antennas) and opting for a more minimalist body. Rounded edges returned, the phone was slimmer, and an anodized aluminum chassis was used. Both models were available in three different colors.
- Space gray
- Silver
- Gold
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

There were few design updates (if any) in this generation, which was released in 2015. A new color was added, however, while Space Gray was darkened. This leaves us with four colors in the catalog.
- Space gray
- Silver
- Gold
- Pink
iPhone SE

A couple of months before the iPhone 7 arrived, Apple decided to launch a new version in March 2016, again targeting those on a tighter budget. This was the iPhone Special Edition, or iPhone SE, which revived the look of the iPhone 5s. Although it featured an older design, it was quite well-received by the public and was available in four colors.
- Space gray (black stripes)
- Silver (white stripes)
- Gold (white stripes)
- Pink (white stripes)
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

The tenth generation iPhone arrived just two months after the iPhone SE, following in the footsteps of the iPhone 6 and 6s in terms of form factor. The small antenna line was even more hidden (at the bottom), while the rest of the body remained clean and in a single color. This model came in five different "colors" (two of them were actually black but with different finishes), to which a fourth, red, was later added, bringing the total to six colors.
- Glossy black
- Matt black
- Silver
- Gold
- Pink gold
- Red (Product RED)
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

Same design as its predecessor, but with fewer colors—it seems that so much variety didn't work for Apple. They've eliminated the two black versions, leaving only one, and we also say goodbye to rose gold. It's now available in four colors.
- Black
- Silver
- Gold
- Red (Product RED)
iPhone X

The iPhone that was hailed as the most revolutionary to date (remember, it was the one that did away with the Home button in favor of Face ID facial recognition) arrived on September 12, 2017, breaking with the design trends of recent years. This smartphone features a glass back and aluminum edges. It was only available in two colors.
- Space gray (for practical purposes it looks black)
- Silver (for practical purposes it looks white)
iPhone Xs and Xs Max

The Xs and Xs Max didn't change a bit in terms of design compared to their previous generation, but they did add a new color to the lineup. They now come in three colors , with the all-gold option returning.
- Space gray (for practical purposes it looks black)
- Silver (for practical purposes it looks white)
- Gold
iPhone Xr

Once again, Cupertino has decided to release a more affordable edition, and once again it seems that this has to be accompanied, without exception, by a wide range of colors. Apple is thus presenting, along with its siblings, six different colors of this controversial version.
- Blanco
- Blue
- Black
- Red (Product RED)
- Coral
- Yellow
iPhone 11

To everyone's surprise, the new generation of iPhones arrives in 2019 in a good number of colors. This breaks somewhat with the tradition of associating the "extra and cheaper" version with a multitude of shades, and for the first time, we see a flagship model in colors like mauve or aqua. In total, the iPhone 11 is available in six different colors.
- Blanco
- Red (Product RED)
- Mallow
- Yellow
- Green
- Black
iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max

When we said that tradition is being broken "in a way," this is what we meant: now the classic, sophisticated colors are reserved for the Pro editions. We thus welcome the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, available in four rather elegant colors and with an overall design that is still clearly present in the current generation.
- night green
- Silver (for practical purposes it looks white)
- Space gray

Even during the lockdown, Apple refused to slow down production and announced a new generation of its iPhone SE. The design is virtually identical to the iPhone XR and it's available in three colors.
- midnight (black)

- Red (Product RED)
iPhone 12 and 12 mini

We saw up to four different versions of the iPhone 12 at the 2020 keynote (which was entirely online). Both the 12 and the 12 mini share a design (at different sizes, of course), with a color-block style that suits the phone's body quite well. Again, six different colors are offered in both models.

iPhone 13 and 13 mini

Same design, different shades for the new generation presented in 2021. The iPhone 13 and 13 mini are not as flashy as the iPhone 12 but also offer a good range of options with 6 different colors (the sixth, green, arrived a few months later).
- midnight (black)
- star white
- Blue
- Red (Product RED)

iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max

The Pro models retained the three basic colors of their predecessor, with the blue intensity being slightly different (a shame). A few months later, like the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, a new color, Alpine Green, was added, bringing the total to five colors.
- Graphite
- Silver (for practical purposes it looks white)
- Gold
- alpine blue

iPhone 14 and 14 Plus

Vibrant colors seemed to have faded somewhat with the last generation of Apple phones, although the announcement just a few days ago of the new yellow iPhone has helped to brighten up its lineup. You can now purchase both the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus in six different colors.
- midnight (black)
- star white
- Red (Product RED)
- Blue
- Purple
- Yellow
iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max

The two top-of-the-line versions of this generation once again opted for elegant and understated tones. Among them was a new purple color that looks incredible, and in all cases, this shade extends to the edges as well. The catalog features four different colors.
- Space black
- Silver (for practical purposes it looks white)
- Gold
- Dark purple
iPhone 15 and 15 Plus

The 2023 iPhones were unveiled with a more pastel color scheme. They included the usual black (always a safe bet) and four very soft versions. In total, there are five available colors.
- Black
- Pink
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max

For its two top-of-the-range models, Apple always reserves more "serious" and premium- looking tones , and the 15th generation is no exception. With a titanium finish, four colors are available.
- Black
- Blanco
- Blue
- Natural
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus

We have new models in the office. Apple has officially unveiled its "2024" family, and with it, we've seen that it's once again opting for much more vibrant colors in the two most affordable phones in its lineup. You have five to choose from.
- Black
- Blanco
- Pink
- bluish green
- Ultramarine blue
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max

As for the two most powerful iPhones of the moment, Apple has been very consistent in terms of aesthetics, not only in their form factor but also in finishes, repeating with titanium and four variations.
