Realme continues to push the envelope with each new release, and this time they've proven it with the arrival of one of their latest models to the European market. It's a phone that aims high without breaking the bank. I've had the chance to thoroughly test the Realme GT , and today I want to share my experience and whether , in my opinion, it's a phone I'd recommend.
Realme GT: video analysis
(almost) perfect design
If you've ever read any of my reviews here at El Output, you'll know that I like to start with what first catches our eye before buying a new phone: the physical appearance. And, in this case, realme wanted to equip this model with a fairly complete and accommodating package for all tastes.

First of all, I want you to know that this phone will be available in two completely different finishes: a more classic one with a blue gradient and another much more striking one in yellow with a black stripe, very much in the style of Kill Bill. Furthermore, the yellow portion of the latter has a very satisfying faux leather feel.

That said, if you're more of a gamer person, who enjoys the flashier look, you could go for the one we've tested. But if you were looking for something more classic, less impressive, you should opt for the blue one.
Speaking of this rear part, in addition to the design that we have already mentioned, we find the camera module of this realme GT. A set of which I will give you more details later but, referring to this section, I want to emphasize that it is not as bulky as other models on the market. This is greatly appreciated to be able to use it supported on any surface.
Turning now to the edges, here I have had a somewhat bittersweet feeling. On the one hand, I have to admit that it is a very complete phone, since on these edges we find: double speaker, usual keypad system, USB-C port for charging and audio jack. But, if it is true that the union between the front and the edges has that small highlight that in mobiles that point to the high-end (something that I am already anticipating about this realme GT) I hope that they are somewhat more polished. In the end, it is not something dramatic and we will end up putting a cover on it that will make us not realize this.

And to complete the picture, let me tell you about the Realme GT's impressive display (in every sense of the word). It boasts a 6,43-inch Super AMOLED screen with a maximum resolution of FullHD+ , a 120Hz refresh rate , a peak brightness of 1.000 nits, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. All of these features translate into a truly impressive display, both in size and specifications, allowing you to enjoy the best possible viewing experience for series, movies, and YouTube videos, with vibrant colors, excellent contrast, and flawless color accuracy.
Of course, I would like to highlight 2 aspects of this screen:
- If you are a gamer user, this panel will be ideal for you thanks to its size and the 120 Hz refresh rate. But of course, keep in mind that it is not the ideal size for those who have small hands or who want a small mobile for some reason .
- Everything looks very good through this screen but I would have liked that, being a smartphone that aims at the high end, it really would have incorporated a panel with a slightly higher resolution.
In the upper left corner of this panel we find its only front camera with the hole on the screen, which will be in charge of facial unlocking. Accompanying this we also find the fingerprint reader that is hidden under the screen.

This biometric package is one of the best I've tried so far. It's true that facial recognition is a simple system, without point projection or anything like that, but it works incredibly fast, as does the fingerprint scanner, which hasn't failed me once.
Power at the highest level
Now that you know the realme GT better from the outside, it's time to tell you what it includes under its panel. And, as I have already mentioned throughout this article, the latest member of the realme family is committed to the highest range. This means that we find:
- Snapdragon 888 5G
- Capacities of 8 GB – 12 GB of RAM L
- 128 GB – 256 GB internal storage UFS3.1
- Battery 4.500 mAh with fast charge of 65 W
With these specifications you can already imagine that the realme GT will behave incredibly well in any situation. Both for simple day-to-day tasks such as social networks, browsing web pages or demanding tasks such as playing powerful games, with this phone we will not find any lag or problem. What's more, that 120 Hz refresh rate will enhance the sensation of fluidity that we can enjoy while playing or browsing the smartphone through any menu or option.

Speaking of battery life, you might think that with such a large screen, 4.500 mAh would be a bit insufficient. Personally, I've easily made it through the day with normal use. But if you're a heavy user, you'll probably need to recharge if you really push it. Realme has addressed this by including 65W fast charging , which means you can charge the battery to 65% in just 20 minutes (starting from 0%). It also has several power-saving modes.
But of course, having the best hardware is useless without well-optimized software. In this regard, as usual, the GT features the manufacturer's customization layer, realUI, in its latest version, running on Android 11. As I've mentioned in other reviews, it's not the cleanest interface on the market, but it has improved recently by refining certain aspects.
As realme has told us, the version that will come into your hands if you decide to buy it will not have third-party apps installed. Also, if you like customization, this layer incorporates some interesting settings with which you can adapt the interface to your needs and preferences.
Photography: the "shorter" leg of the realme GT
Turning now to the photographic section, I can already tell you that the feeling that it has left me has its lights and shadows again. The cast that composes it is made up of 4 cameras in total:
- Sensor principal 64 MP, with f/1.8 aperture.
- Sensor ultra wide angle 8 MP, with 119º vision and f/2.3 aperture.
- Sensor macro 2 MP, with f/2.4 aperture.
- Sensor Selfie from 16 MP.
First of all, you will surely miss a telephoto sensor to take those shots with a longer focal length and that many users (among which I include myself) like so much. On this occasion, we have the popular crop in the sensor with a digital zoom x2 and a x5 accompanied, of course, by an image processing system. It's enough? Ok, let's talk about the results in this section.

The truth is, when the lighting conditions are good, the photos I've taken with the Realme GT are of excellent quality. The main sensor is particularly noteworthy , capable of capturing images with good dynamic range, vibrant yet realistic colors, and perfect sharpness. The sensor crop for zoomed-in photos also produces great images, especially when using 2x zoom, as the 5x zoom significantly reduces image quality.

The wide-angle lens seems to be a decent sensor, though the colors are a bit muted and it has the usual distortion we find in these lenses. As for the macro lens, besides being one we'll only use occasionally, its quality is inferior to the others. In fact, I'd recommend using the zoom with digital cropping instead of the macro lens.

The selfie camera , meanwhile, takes photos that are about average for this type of smartphone. However, don't expect the same results as with the main lens, as the sharpness and color accuracy are inferior.

As for low-light photos , the quality drops as expected. Even so, we can still take some decent shots, although the highlight handling is occasionally lacking. This is much improved by using night mode.
In short, despite the fact that the captures are very correct, especially with the 64 MP sensor, I would have preferred that instead of the real macro being there, it would have incorporated a greater zoom but, yes, optical.
A mobile from which you cannot ask for more for less

At this point, would you recommend the realme GT? The short answer is yes, but with certain nuances. But before clarifying this to you, I need you to know one last very important aspect to understand my assessment: the price.
The realme GT has an official price of 599 euros for the 12GB+256GB model, but if you take advantage of its launch offer, you can buy it for 549 euros between June 21 and 22.
See offer on AmazonAnalyzing the smartphone that I have had in my hands, the design and its possibilities is something that the manufacturer has taken care of (although I have my discrepancies with that union between edges and screen). Regarding the components, operating system and user experience, it is a phone at the highest level. Photography may be that section that, even though you can take good shots, is your "weak" point.
But, even with this, we are talking about a mobile that allows us to have the highest-end features at a very reasonable price. What's more, it is currently the cheapest phone that includes the latest Snapdragon processor.
That said, if you want a great phone without breaking the bank and photography isn't top of mind in your preferences, the realme GT should be among the candidates to choose. Especially if you are one of those people who enjoy a big screen.
