Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G, a high-end with a lot to say

With the Xiaomi Mi 11 already launched in China, some may be wondering if the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is worth it, knowing there's a successor. Well, let me be clear: yes, absolutely. But if you'd like, I can share my experience using it.

One more Xiaomi, but not just any one

Xiaomi's catalog is a real mess if you don't keep up with the company's news. Even so, it's easy to get lost among models where you're not sure if they're superior to others. But there are models that are easy to spot, and the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is one of them.

This phone is a high-end proposal and not because it has Pro as its last name, but because as soon as you see its technical sheet you realize that it offers the best that is currently on the market with permission from the recent Mi 11 and its Snapdragon 888.

So, first a quick look at its specifications and then I'll tell you more about my experience after three weeks of using it as my main device.

As you can see, if you're even remotely familiar with hardware, you'll recognize this as a high-end device. But beyond all that, the best part is that while the price isn't super cheap, it's very competitive compared to other options. For 600 euros, you can get the Mi 10T Pro with 256 GB of storage.

Does that still seem like a high price to you? Well, maybe when you know my experience of use you change your mind.

Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro, video analysis

An elegant and strong design

Aside from the main camera module, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro's design can only be described as elegant and substantial . It's not a compact device; quite the opposite, in fact. However, it's very attractive and demonstrates that Xiaomi has reached a very high level of craftsmanship in certain price ranges.

Logically there will always be preferences in terms of design, but in general terms, and despite not breaking the mold, it does offer high-quality finishes and very well-executed finishes.

However, take a look at the images and judge for yourself. The only downside, although it's something you get used to, is how much the main camera module protrudes . It's a rectangle that isn't bothersome despite its size, but the protrusion is noticeable quickly.

Even so, if you put the silicone cover that it includes, the issue is hidden a little more. So seeing that practically the entire industry offers something similar right now, it is not a drama that this is as it is.

First hit on the table, your screen

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro's screen is undoubtedly one of the phone's greatest strengths. It's an IPS panel that doesn't stand out for its sharpness, as it offers an FHD+ resolution, but it does for its 144Hz refresh rate.

Yes, this refresh rate is normally something that gaming phones like the one I was able to test recently, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel, have bet on, but Xiaomi has decided that it can be a great idea in order to differentiate itself from the rest of the options and it achieves.

The experience is extremely satisfying in every way , whether you're just navigating the operating system or playing a video game capable of reaching that refresh rate. Of course, the multimedia experience isn't solely about the refresh rate.

In terms of color, brightness and saturation I have no complaints either. The screen shows all kinds of content optimally and whatever you view, you will do it with great quality.

Furthermore, this refresh rate adapts to the needs of each moment, so you can rest assured regarding energy consumption. It won't drain your battery. And if you're worried about it for any reason, you can change the maximum refresh rate in the settings. But believe me, it's worth setting it to the maximum and simply enjoying the experience.

It doesn't sound bad

If you're going to watch videos or listen to music, although it's always best to do so using headphones (also the most recommended way to avoid disturbing those around you), the dual stereo speakers offer a pleasant experience.

Ok, in terms of sound it will not be the best, but in general terms it is at a good level and that is something that many high-end models that cost a little more cannot say. So good for Xiaomi in this section. As well as the issue of microphones, which capture quite clear audio in calls.

Performance and battery: zero problems

Regarding the hardware, I have already told you that this Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro offers the best of the best. It is true that the Mi 11 is already presented and this will include the new Snapdragon 888, but the 865+ is still a real beast capable of dealing with any type of application or game.

In addition, with 8 GB of RAM and very fast UFS 3.1 storage, you will not notice any type of setback when demanding performance from the device above what the vast majority of users need in their day to day.

And yes, all this without compromising battery life. Firstly, because 5.000 mAh is more than enough capacity to last a full day. And if you don't use it very intensively, you can easily get through a day and a half or two.

So, do not doubt, this phone is a high-end and as such the experience is too. So, added to its fantastic screen, you can even use it as a gaming terminal if you're into playing on Android.

let's talk about his eyes

The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro has four sensors, one is on the front and the other three on the rear module. So let's go first with one (the one with the selfie camera) and then with the rest.

The 20MP selfie camera delivers good results in all kinds of situations. It's quite possibly one of the best front-facing cameras on the market, and many other phones would love to have one like it. Especially this year, when we've had to rely on the front camera more than ever for video conferencing and other uses.

Regarding the rear camera, although there are some decisions with which I do not entirely agree (such as the macro sensor) I have to say that beyond the resolution, what I really liked is its versatility.

With the 108MP sensor, you not only get stunning resolution, capable of even recording 8K video, but also the ability to zoom by digitally cropping the sensor. It's true that if you want to reach the 30x zoom it offers, detail is quickly lost, but the 5x and even 10x zooms are quite usable at times and provide an interesting extra feature.

The wide-angle sensor isn't amazing, but it offers some interesting possibilities in good lighting. As for the macro sensor… there's not much to say. If you're passionate about this type of photography, it's great , but I would have preferred a sensor with a zoom lens to avoid having to resort to digital cropping. Even so, the camera quality is very good in most situations, which is appreciated when you're investing a certain amount in a phone.

It is high-end and its price does not skyrocket

As you may have seen, there are some details that I have not commented on during this analysis of the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G related to software or biometric security, so before giving you my final assessment, I will tell you quickly:

  • El software is MIUI and I think we all know what it offers. A very particular layer, but one that has adapted very well over time, offers many options and performance is not affected by being overloaded or poorly optimized. It is not my favorite within Android, but the truth is that I always enjoy its experience
  • On fingerprint reader and facial recognition, both work well and fast. The reader is on the start button, something that we have already seen a lot this year 2020 with other terminals and once you adapt there is no problem because it is not under the screen. Of course, if you're left-handed like me and you don't have big hands, it may cost you a little more to reach it with your index finger.

And now, after three weeks of using the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro, I'm certain it 's the best Xiaomi I've tested in all of 2020, and its price seems very fair for everything it offers. It's very close to what some mid-range phones charge for less capable hardware, and lower than what other options want you to pay for not offering anything truly groundbreaking compared to this phone.

Therefore, if you are looking for a high-end that does not skyrocket in price, it is likely that you will not find anything better. I liked it and I wouldn't mind if it was the terminal that accompanied me in my day to day.
