Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro: safe bet for less than €300

The Xiaomi phone factory does not stop and has just introduced new members within the Redmi family. One of the ranges of products that users tend to like the most, since they offer great features at a very moderate price. This time I want to talk to you about one of them in particular, a model that I was able to test for a while before it was released and that surprised me a lot. I tell you my experience after trying the new Redmire Xiaomi Note Pro 10.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, video analysis:

(Almost) perfect design for the new Redmi 10 Pro

The physical aspect is one of the things that first enter our eyes when buying a new phone. On this occasion, this new Redmi 10 Pro seemed like a very nice smartphone inside sobriety from her body. A phone without eccentricities but that complies.

We have a back with this finish that is becoming so popular that, depending on where you look at it, it lets us see a lighter or darker tone. A rear that, by the way, will be available in pepper salad: gradient bronze, glacier blue and, the one we have analyzed, onyx grey. A color that, in full light, seems precious and elegant to me.

The only thing that will draw your attention to this rear, for better or worse, is its camera module. A double height rectangular module which houses the 4 lenses of which I will give you more details later. But what is negative? Well, as is the case with most phones on the market, it protrudes a lot from the body, generating a significant step in the back. This makes it practically impossible to use it resting on any surface. Although, as usual, placing a case on the smartphone solves the problem.

On this occasion, the sides of the Redmi 10 Pro seem to me to be better cared for than those of other phones in its range. The finishing of the edges is better achieved and they make the union of the front and rear somewhat more continuous, which I appreciate. In addition, on these sides we find key elements such as the dual speaker that has great power and a correct sound, the USB-C connector, a 3.5mm audio jack or the power button itself that includes the fingerprint reader inside. A position for which, more and more, many manufacturers are opting.

And accompanying this unlocking system, we also have the system of facial recognition. A pack that works quite well, recognition is done very quickly and without hesitation. Regarding face detection, we do not have the most advanced system on the market, but it performs perfectly.

Moving now to the front, here we find a great novelty in the Redmi Note family. We are before a 6,67 ″ AMOLED panel with a widescreen aspect ratio of 20:9, which includes a refresh rate of 120 Hz and the central hole in the screen to house its only front camera. A panel that looks incredibly good in any situation, with the typical vividness of this technology and deep blacks. An important quality leap to be able to enjoy playing content on this big screen.

In addition, this high refresh rate makes the sensation when moving through the menus, options and navigation in general a joy. So much so that, if you later try a phone with a lower rate, it will give you the feeling that it is going to pedals, I tell you from experience.

Although, if I had to take a negative point from this front, I have to say that it's the hole's fault. Going into a detail that only affects a few of us, and that is not alarming either, the edge of this camera is surrounded by a silver ring that attracts a lot of attention. But, the real "problem" is that this is not centered in the hole of the hole in the screen. So those users who are "affected" by symmetry, at first it will shock us a bit.

Power and battery for the most demanding

Now that you know the Redmi Note 10 Pro well on the outside, it's time to introduce you to what it hides inside. Smartphones in this range are becoming more competitive, and that usual trend of lags and slowdowns is far away. Of course, this new member of the Redmi family was not going to be less.

This phone comes with a very versatile pack in the hardware section, including the processor Snapdragon 732G as brain and different possibilities of storage and RAM:

  • 6 GB of RAM + 64 GB of internal storage.
  • 6 GB of RAM + 128 GB of internal storage.
  • 8 GB of RAM + 128 GB of internal storage.

In our case, I have been testing the intermediate model of these three and I can tell you that its performance meets for any type of use. From browsing the internet, using social networks or playing powerful games like Asphalt 9 or Call of Duty mobile, I haven't noticed any jerks, lags or delays. And neither is any kind of excessive heating after prolonged use. So, as I already told you, whatever the task for which you need it, this smartphone will fulfill it without problems.

Another aspect that I have enjoyed the most about this new Redmi is its autonomy. This set of components arrives accompanied by a battery of 5.2020 mAh that, even for demanding people like me, it will reach a day or a day and a half of use without problems. Only in those ultra specific cases in which I have gone too far with the gaming sessions have I had to go through the charger but, yes, after a day of full use.

In addition, thanks to its 33W fast charge (included in the box) we can fully charge your battery in just under 1 hour. It is not the fastest charge on the market, but the truth is that there are many mAh to "refill".

But you already know that it is useless to have the best components if it is not accompanied by a good operating system. The Redmi Note 10 Pro arrives with the latest version of MIUI 12, which is based on Android 11.

A customization layer that we have already told you about on many occasions. It comes with a good handful of pre-installed apps (some of which can be removed), customization options and settings to suit the tastes of each user.

The truth is that MIUI has evolved a lot in recent years and is becoming more and more friendly for all kinds of people, in addition to having impeccable performance. But, as we always tell you, if you are looking for an experience that is very close to pure Android, this still has a long way to go.

offroad cameras

At this point, it is time to talk about one of the sections that matters most to many users: the cameras. And if I had to describe this Xiaomi phone in one word, I would call it polyvalent.

Reviewing each of the lenses that we found around his body, we have 5 in total:

  • Main sensor of 108 MP, with an aperture of f / 1.9 and the Pixel Binning technology that Xiaomi has baptized as "Super Pixel".
  • ultra wide angle sensor 8 MP, with f/2.2 aperture and a viewing angle of 118º.
  • tele macro sensor 8 MP, with f/2.4 aperture.
  • Depth sensor 2 MP, with f/2.4 aperture, to improve portraits.
  • Selfie camera sensor 16 MP, with f/2.45 aperture.

A set that, a priori, seems very complete, but how does it behave on a day-to-day basis? Well, the truth is that quite correct in most cases.

De day and with good light the results that we can get with all its cameras is very good. Obviously, its main sensor stands out above the rest, then the wide angle does drop a bit in quality, but it is still very usable. The results have a good representation of the colors and a correct contrast, although sometimes photographs can be a little off.

What I would like to highlight in a very positive way is the macro photography that can be achieved with this Redmi. This double use of the tele-macro sensor allows for high-quality captures, in which we can get very close to objects to capture extremely sharp close-ups.

Then, by the night, we will notice that the quality is low as usual in this range of phones. The sharpness is lower, although the colors hold up correctly. To highlight, I was pleased to see that the noise is very contained to be a telephone. Normally, most mobiles tend to raise the shadows to compensate for the darkness and, automatically, a significant grain appears. In this case, although it is not miraculous either, it makes up for it very well supported by a night mode which will allow us to retrieve some information from the shadows.

And, regarding the SelfieIt is a sensor that performs well but without much fanfare. The quality is correct but, in my opinion, it goes a bit too far with the extra sharpness that it applies.

Regarding videoI have bittersweet feelings. We will be able to make captures with a maximum quality of 4K is 30 fps. When the mobile is completely still (resting somewhere, for example) the captures are very good but, as soon as we move a little, the trepidations do not take long to appear. Xiaomi includes a digital stabilizer to try to solve this a bit but, the truth is that the result of this does not finish convincing me.

A phone that will be difficult to resist

Now yes, it's time to talk about the price of this Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. This will arrive, as I mentioned before, with different memory configurations with a cost starting from 279,99 Euros for the most basic model.

Taking into account the set of features it offers, with a careful design and a pack of cameras that will adapt to a large number of situations, little more can be asked of this smartphone. The new member of the Redmi family arrives to compete in one of the most complicated ranges of phones on the market. Although, yes, he has all the weapons to be among the best of this.

If you want a smartphone that is around 300 euros and that, of course, complies in all sections, you should take this into account when making your purchase.
