Today there are many platforms for the consumption of content via streaming. Some are global, such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO or Prime Video and others, such as Hulu in the US, broadcast their content exclusively in certain countries. Also, some of these global platforms publish certain series, movies or documentaries with geographical limits. So, if we want to see those titles outside the country limit, we will not be able to do it, or at least not in a "native" way. View exclusive content from other countries without limits
As you know, there are exclusive platforms such as Hulu in which limits the content they broadcast to certain countries. Others, such as Netflix, Prime Video and others, do allow us to access the bulk of their publications from anywhere in the world, but, yes, there are different series, films and documentaries that have a geographical restriction. Therefore, if you want to see some of these titles, it will be an impossible task to do so with the default channels that these platforms offer us.
But this has an easy fix that you've probably heard of. We refer to use of a VPN to "skip" this restriction and be able to access any content whenever and wherever we want. You have no idea what a VPN is or, even though you have heard about them, you still have doubts, don't worry. What is a VPN?
These acronyms refer to Virtual Private Network which, in Spanish, would be called virtual private network. Without going into too many technicalities, when you connect to a VPN network, which may be located in the same country or in a different one, you change your IP address and, therefore, it becomes much more difficult to locate your location.
Therefore, if you use these services you will be able to pretend you are anywhere in the world from your own living room. VPNs have many other advantages, such as greater connection security, but we will leave this for another article in which we will delve into many more.
What really matters to us is that part of "falsifying" our location since, if we want to access platforms like Hulu or the exclusive content offered by Netflix in the US, we will only have to connect to a VPN that is in this country and, after this, log in normally on said platforms. On this occasion, we are going to explain how to do it from a Smart TV, but it is important that you keep in mind that you can do it identically from any other device such as a PC, a tablet or from your own mobile phone.
The first step is, as you can imagine, to have access to a VPN network. For that we just have to go to the application store of our smart TV and, in the search engine, write “VNP”. A multitude of options will automatically appear on the screen, Some will be free and some will be paid.. We recommend that you first try one of the zero-cost options and, if you think you are going to take advantage of it, opt for a paid one that will offer you a better service.
Once the VPN app has been downloaded to our television, we will have to access it to "tell" it which country we want to connect to. Each application allows us to do this in a different way but, in the end, the process is the same: we select the service we want to use and, from the list of countries that they offer us, we must access the one that suits our consumption needs.
Once the country is selected, in the eyes of the service we want to access, we will be in a geographical area without limitations. Therefore, we can access exclusive content of all services from anywhere in the world, bypassing any type of geographical restriction.
